Wave after wave of spectral energy surged forward, crashing like surf battering a shoreline, and the Dragon Spear roared straight toward that massive battle axe.

Every onlooker froze in shock.

The sheer scale of it was staggering.

It looked almost real, like Steven had summoned some terrible tide that crashed headlong into the axe in a wall of fire.

His opponent let out one final roar. “Die already!”

Every eye in the plaza locked onto the clash.

A thunderous boom rocked the square.

The battle axe slammed straight into that surging wave of flame.

A deafening explosion tore through the plaza.

In that same instant, the man’s pupils went rigid with shock.

Disbelief flooded every inch of his face.

His massive axe had shattered the moment it touched that wave of fire.

This is impossible!

The thought tore through his mind in a furious roar.

But it was already too late.

Steven’s strike carried devastating force.

A Level 5 combat art honed to its absolute peak unleashed power that bordered on terrifying.

Shattering that axe had cost it almost nothing, and plenty of raw strength still surged behind the blow.

It slammed straight into his opponent’s body in the same breath.

A heavy impact cracked through the air, followed by the wet tear of flesh giving way.

The man’s face twisted in agony as a mouthful of crimson blood burst from his lips.

His mind spun in confusion.

What in the world is actually happening here?

How could a level thirty ThreeSigil Divine Adept like me get toyed with like this?

And the employer said their info’s accurate?

This is supposed to be some kid who awakened a little over a month ago?

Realization crashed over him all at once.

They’d been played. They were nothing more than cannon fodder.

He had to run.

He needed to get out of there right now.

But the instant that thought took shape in his mind, Steven appeared right in front of him like a phantom slipping straight out of the dark.

Those eyes held nothing but cold, endless indifference.

Steven didn’t hesitate for a single second.

One thrust of the spear tore straight through his throat.

Blood sprayed through the air, and just like that, a level thirty Three–Sigil Divine Adept dropped dead.

His last thought was pure regret. He never should have let greed pull him into this.

This had never been a fight he belonged in.

But it was already far too late for any of that.

Everyone watching, whether through the livestream or in person, sat frozen at what they’d just witnessed.

[This is insane. There’s no way this guy only awakened a month ago.]

[There’s no way. Absolutely no way.]

[That kind of combat power is straight up unreal!]

[If this wasn’t a livestream, I’d swear the guy was cheating.]

The four remaining attackers, still frozen in shock, watched their leader drop dead in front of them.

Reality finally hit them.

There was no time left to think anything through.

Run.

Steven had already spun around and exploded into motion.

In less time than it took to blink, he’d closed the distance on one of them.

Steven let out a cold scoff. You think you can come all this way and still walk out alive?

His guard never dropped for a second though.

Do the Reads still have another move waiting in the wings?

Right at that moment, military personnel began moving in, likely under direct orders from above.

Everyone clear out! Move along, all of you!”

An officer hurried over to Steven. “Steven, please shut down the livestream right now before this spirals any further.”

Steven gave a nod and watched as the military crew began clearing away the bodies.

Eric stared at the security feed, his gaze locked tight on Steven.

A cold, twisted smile crossed his face. “Go to hell, kid.”

Connor looked at him, confused. “Dad?”

At that same moment, Silas turned to the screen too, just as Steven happened to glance straight up at the

camera.

Connor let out a derisive laugh. It’s finished. He’s done for.

On the screen, the officer let out a heavy sigh. “After all this, Rowenville is genuinely about to fall into chaos What a mess.

“You really didn’t have to broadcast all of this. You’ve blown this way out of proportion, and trust me, the higher ranks already know about it.”

Steven’s expression stayed calm. “I didn’t have another choice. This was the only way. They came to kill me, so naturally I struck back.

“The law forbids killing in the streets, sure, but it also says you’re allowed to defend yourself when someone comes after your life. If anything, what I did kept this from turning into something far messier.

“Your side can handle the explanations from here.”

The officer let out a defeated sigh.

“Fine, fine. None of this is really my problem to deal with anyway. Just get out of here.”

Steven’s brow furrowed.

Is that really it? Nothing left?

Maybe that really was the end of it.

Right as Steven turned to leave, every hair on his body shot up at once.
