Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 352

Chapter 352 The Rats

That made sense now, why his Spirit sense came in so absurdly strong.

Finished

Every single one of his stats sat at four times what any other Awakened of the same Divine Sigil tier could claim.

Never mind anyone sitting at a lower Divine Sigil rank entirely, he could crush an opponent at his own leve using nothing but raw Strength alone.

Steven figured he’d run a real test with Bianca later, once things settled down.

For now, the priority was dealing with these rats lurking in the shadows.

They’d been tailing him this whole time, probably never imagining his spirit sense could stretch out across five hundred yards.

Deep within a section of underground piping, a group of figures huddled around a monitor feed.

“Benny, get ready to move. Remember, if you can kill him, kill him. If you can’t, pull back. We need to see if he can sense us coming.”

In the darkness, Benny had already set up his origin energy rifle.

All he needed now was for Steven to step into view.

The street around them sat mostly empty.

Steven, for his part, was waiting too, biding his time for the right opening.

He already knew his enemy would make a move eventually.

The only disappointment was the size of the group he’d sensed. It wasn’t quite as large as he’d hoped.

He wanted to sweep up every last one of them in a single strike.

Give them a lesson written in blood, the kind nobody forgets.

Right as Steven reached the stretch of road between the academy and the row of private estates, he caught it instantly, the telltale shift in his enemy’s intent.

Here it comes.

The very next instant, a bolt of origin energy, carrying terrifying destructive force, tore through the darkness straight at him.

If he hadn’t already known this was coming, that shot would have caught him completely off guard.

Whatever gear these people were running had clearly been heavily modified.

Steven shifted aside in a sudden burst, watching with perfect clarity as the energy bolt grazed past where he’d stood a heartbeat before.

It slammed into a tree along the roadside an instant later, detonating on impact.

The trunk shattered into splinters in the blink of an eye.

Steven’s feet exploded forward in a burst of pure speed.

He charged straight at his attacker.

Both Benny, the assassin lying in wait, and the others watching from underground froze in stunned disbelief.

He actually dodged that?

“Benny! Careful now. Test his limits.”

Steven’s Speed at this point bordered on terrifying.

With Speed and Agility both pushing past seventeen hundred points, he tore through the darkness like a streak of black lightning.

The sight of that monstrous speed sent a jolt of shock straight through his attacker.

He fired off shot after shot in rapid succession.

Even moving at that velocity, Steven dodged every single one without effort.

Disbelief crashed through the shooter’s mind.

Watching Steven close the distance fast, he abandoned the sniper approach entirely.

He drew his melee weapon instead, ready to commit to a real fight.

Steven felt a flicker of disappointment. Just one of them? Really?

He scanned the area again, but sensed nothing else nearby.

It was just the usual scattering of ordinary pedestrians within his five hundred yard range.

Are these rats still testing the waters, holding back?

These assassins were being unusually cautious. They had to be working for the Read family, banking on the idea that nothing could be traced back to them.

Steven knew full well the Reades were watching from somewhere in the shadows right now.

Fine. Let them watch, then.

A single glance told Steven everything he needed to know about his opponent: an A–rank Three–Sigil Divine Adept, somewhere around level twenty eight.

Not a real problem.

Probably even weaker than Landon had been.

Wrath of the Sundering Dragon!

A curse tore through his mind. This is impossible!

That weapon. It’s Srank.

And this kid’s Strength. It’s monstrous!

There’s no way this is some rookie who just awakened a month ago.

This is Strength only a ThreeSigil Divine Adept should ever possess!

Steven’s assault came in relentless, brutal waves.

He gave his opponent no room to think, let alone plan.

That spear came at him like a storm of blades, impossible to predict or defend against.

Benny found himself driven back step after step, completely on the defensive.

Bitter frustration churned in his chest. What in the world is this monster?

He’s only lit up two Divine Sigils, and a weak Brank glow at that.

How does any of this make sense?

Finished

Meanwhile, deep underground, his fellow conspirators watched the fight unfold with growing horror.

“Is this kid even human?”

The leader’s expression darkened. “Benny, fall back. Try to lure him down here if you can. Pull out, regroup, and we hit him together.”

The voice crackled through Benny’s earpiece, and he heard every word clearly..

But right now, he had bigger problems.

This kid’s offense was relentless, leaving him no opening to retreat.

Steven, however, had caught that same transmission through the earpiece too.

A spark of satisfaction lit up inside him. So there really are others hiding down below.

Then let’s follow their lead and sweep up the whole nest in one move.

Steven spotted his opening and drove his spear straight into his opponent’s chest.
