Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 300

Chapter 300 The Bait Is Set

Amelia took in the entire exchange.

Wait… were these two arguing?

But that didn’t make sense, Wasn’t Steven supposed to dote on Bianca and cater to her every whim?

Amelia couldn’t make any sense of it.

One thing was certain, though: becoming friends with Bianca, an SSS–rank talent, wasn’t going to be easy.

It was obvious that a loser like Nelson didn’t have much say here either. He had definitely exaggerated his friendship with Bianca back in high school.

She needed a new plan.

Nelson hurried to ease the tension. “Have you guys ordered yet? I’m starving.”

Steven replied, “Yeah, it’s already ordered. The food should be here any minute.”

Trying to move past the awkwardness, Nelson changed the subject.

“So, Steven, where the hell have you been this past month? I went looking for you at your dorm.”

Steven seemed to relax a little and smiled. “Nowhere special. I just went out of the city for a while.”

Hearing

his words, Nelson and Amelia were stunned.

“Out of the city?” Amelia blurted out in shock.

Nelson stared at him in shock too. “Steven, you’re kidding, right?”

Steven shook his head. “Nope. I really did leave the city for a while.”

Nelson could hardly believe it. Still, Steven was his best friend. There was no reason for him to lie about something like this.

“Wait, how did you even get out of the city? And what were you doing out there?”

Amelia wanted to know too.

Steven smiled and glanced at Nelson.

Then he glanced at Amelia as well.

“So what’s going on between you and Amy?”

Awkwardly, Nelson replied. “We’re just friends.”

Amelia lowered her head shyly too.

Steven wore a knowing smile.

Nelson shot him a knowing look.

Steven nodded. “I’ll tell you, but you can’t go spreading it around.”

Seeing how secretive he was being, both of them looked puzzled.

Meanwhile, Bianca sat there with a cold expression, feeling like she was about to break character.

She and Steven were really taking this too far…

But there was no helping it. This was the only way to make Nelson see Amelia’s true colors,

Steven said, “I’m actually a member of Ashen now. I was out on a mission for the past month.”

Upon hearing his words, Nelson and Amelia thought they’d misheard him.

They were taken aback.

“What?!” Nelson blurted out in disbelief.

His best friend had already joined an Awakened Squad?

Amelia was equally shocked.

“You mean Ashen? The number one Awakened Squad in Rowenville? You’re one of its members?”

Just then, the food arrived.

Nelson shook his head hard.

“Absolutely no way! Even if that’s true, Ashen still wouldn’t recruit a B–rank like you. You’re definitely hiding something from me.”

Steven gave a faint smile and lowered his voice conspiratorially.

“I’m trusting you with this, so you have to keep it a secret.”

Both of them nodded.

With a serious expression, Steven said, “I’m actually an S–rank.”

As he spoke, Steven activated the device on his chest, releasing a faint trace of black light.

Instantly, Nelson and Amelia’s eyes went wide.

Amelia’s expression began to change, and her gaze toward Steven grew noticeably different.

Steven and Bianca were both holding it together with everything they had. Both of them felt as though they deserved an award for their acting.

The real trump card was coming next.

Nelson rubbed his eyes in disbelief.

But it really was black light, and Steven truly was radiating an overwhelming aura.

Nelson was utterly shocked.

You’re really S–rank?”

Steven nodded. “The real deal.”

Then why didn’t it show up during Divine Awakening?”
