Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 268

Chapter 268 Seven Against the World

Peter flew through the air, his eyes full of anguish.

“Steven!

“Get inside!”

Steven had no room for any thought except the next person to save.

But he was only one man, and Olivia was in danger.

“Olivia! Watch out!”

Steven tore his way toward her.

An Earth Demon Bear was barreling straight at Olivia.

The teammates inside the safehouse were losing their minds.

“Olivia!”

“Olivia!”

Finished

In the instant Olivia looked up, she saw the ten–foot shadow descending on her like a falling mountain.

It was over.

Her face went pale.

Was it her turn to die?

She wasn’t afraid of death. What she couldn’t bear to leave behind was Alan.

“Olivia!” Steven pushed his speed to the absolute limit, but he wasn’t going to make it.

The people in the safehouse were breaking down.

And in that razor–thin instant.

Cara appeared from nowhere.

She tackled the frozen Olivia and rolled them both clear by about 30 feet.

The Earth Demon Bear’s fists created a crater on the spot where Olivia had been standing.

Olivia’s mind went blank.

Why her? Of all people?

Cara was already covered in wounds herself, running on nothing but willpower.

Cara screamed, “Go!”

She grabbed Olivia’s armand hurled her toward the safehouse.

As Olivia tumbled through the air, she couldn’t make sense of it. Why had this woman saved her?

Finished

The same woman who did nothing but argue with her, who fought her over Alan at every turn–that infuriating, shameless woman.

Why?

Tears streamed down Olivia’s face.

She crashed near the safehouse entrance, and the others pulled her inside immediately.

Cara allowed herself a single, bleak smile.

The next instant, the Earth Demon Bear’s claw raked across her abdomen, tearing a wound so deep it exposed her organs.

Olivia screamed.

The few surviving members of Sebastian’s team erupted in grief and rage.

“Cara!”

“Cara!”

“Cara!”

“No!”

“You bastard!”

The bear’s foot was coming down. Cara was about to be crushed.

The Dragon Spear arrived first.

Steven drove it into the Earth Demon Bear’s chest with a devastating thrust that blew a hole clean through

its torso.

The bear went flying, crashing through a wall of beasts behind it.

Steven scooped Cara up.

The sound that came from his throat was the growl of a cornered animal.

“Hold on!”

He hurled her toward the safehouse.

Through her fading consciousness. Cara was bewildered. The person saving her was the same boy she’d dismissed as a worthless One–Sigil nobody.

Chapter 268 Seven Against the World

Steven bellowed. “Sebastian! Get your people inside!”

But how many could possibly be left?

I’m not holding back.

Today, he would not yield a single step.

Every beast that came within range of the Dragon Spear died.

Every creature that tried to touch this final sanctuary was cut down.

Sebastian was shaken to his core.

He’d never seen anything like this.

He was genuinely, completely, utterly in awe.

Peter and the others were inside the safehouse.

Peter was screaming, slamming his fists against the walls. “Where is Military Command’s backup?! Where is it?!”

Of the seven fighters on the outside, besides Steven, the others were all Divine Knights.

They were burning through the very last embers of their lives.

Some were on the verge of triggering the Divine Rite.

Edric and Sebastian were already at the end of their ropes.

But Steven was still killing.

He fought as though he had no limits, and it stunned everyone watching.

Only his teammates knew: the moment this state ended, Steven wouldn’t have the strength to hold his

spear.

Steven was spending his life to protect his teammates.

Just as his teammates had spent their lives protecting him in his past life.

He’d forgotten exhaustion. He’d forgotten time.

All he could see was the next kill.

Beast carcasses piled into a wall.

Alan’s saber severed Lars’s head from his body.

Lars died with infinite hatred and disbelief frozen in his eyes.

Those eyes, locked in a permanent stare of terror, told the story of his final moments.

Alan didn’t spare him a second glance.
