Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 249

Chapter 249 Old Enemies

The Celestial Core sat less than a hundred feet from Alan’s position.

Voices erupted from every direction at once.

“Take the Core!”

Alan made a contemptuous sound and took one step forward.

The wind surged around him, and he materialized beside the Celestial Core in a single instant.

He looked at it. His brow creased slightly.

He tucked it into his spatial converter without ceremony and without hesitation.

The entire field went completely silent.

Just like that?

Team Ashen’s members broke into barely–contained elation.

They actually had it.

“The captain is absolutely incredible!”

“I can’t believe what I just watched!”

Steven was the only one whose expression didn’t lift/

Something was deeply, fundamentally wrong. That performance from the Phantom Moon Fox didn’t reflect a level 5 beast fighting anywhere near its actual capacity.

Steven watched through Eye of Insight, and what he saw was a creature deliberately holding back, deliberately underperforming.

Alan turned back to face the injured Fox.

He moved to press the attack.

The Phantom Moon Fox stared at Alan with wild, furious eyes.

Then its body began to shrink Smaller, and smaller still.

It turned away with something almost resembling reluctance.

It dropped into a tunnel in the earth and vanished.

A stunned silence swept through everyone watching.

The Fox abandoned the Celestial Core?

Alan reached the edge of the tunnel and stood there with his brow furrowed.

The surrounding beasts began pulling back.

Military units and the other squads looked at each other in utter confusion

Is it over?

Did we just complete our mission?

Then Alan’s foot drove hard into the ground and launched him into the air.

The exact spot where he’d been standing detonated a heartbeat later.

The shockwave tore through the ruins.

Alan turned in midair and looked in one specific direction.

Something cold and lethal poured off him in waves.

Finished

Theodore stood there in that same direction, his gaze locked on Alan with a killing intent that made the air between them feel like a loaded weapon.

Theodore’s voice came out flat and glacial. “You don’t deserve to touch the Celestial Core.”

The rage building in Alan’s chest was the kind that had been accumulating for years, and it rushed to the surface all at once.

His eyes began to flood with red.

Every memory from that day, every detail he’d spent years burying, came back in a torrent.

When he finally spoke, his voice was rough and stripped of everything but intent. “Today. This ends.”

Theodore’s reply came out sharp and contemptuous. “You’re the one who should have died.”

Alan went still.

The rage didn’t leave. It just settled into something colder and more precise. He turned to Sebastian. “Get everyone out of here.”

Sebastian started to say something, stopped himself, and made the decision Alan was asking him to make.

“Move out!” Sebastian’s voice snapped across the group.

Olivia spun toward him. “I’m not leaving!”

Sebastian was already moving toward her. “Move! Don’t you dare make this harder for him!”

Every collision was a battle of presence as much as a battle of force.

The Blade Energy scattering from their exchanges tore the surrounding ancient buildings apart, reduxing

enturies–old walls to rubble in seconds.

Every person watching was stunned into silence.

A fight of this magnitude was genuinely rare.

Even the senior military officials watching through the Surveillant feed went quiet.

These two. The Thunderwind Trio’s notorious pair.

And it had come to this.

If that incident had never happened, all three of them would be fighting on the same side right now, a single blade with no equal, carving through anything that stood against Draconia.

Instead, it came to this.

Everyone watched.

Everyone forgot, at least for a moment, the danger pressing in from every other direction, because a fight like this wasn’t something a person witnessed often.

Alan was missing one Sigil compared to Theodore. It didn’t show.

The output between them felt balanced, two forces of equivalent weight meeting without either one yielding.

Olivia and Cara both stood with their fists clenched tight enough to hurt.

Olivia’s eyes were red at the corners.

Win. You have to win.

Sebastian looked at the squad with something between frustration and deep resignation. “He told me this fight was unavoidable. He knew it was coming. Now move! All of you! Don’t make what he’s doing pointless!”

The squad looked back at him with expressions that made it very clear they could not simply walk away from their captain.
