Reborn: Apocalypse Ready. War Goddess by My Side novel Chapter 246

Chapter 246 Bickering

Finished

“We play it as it comes, Alan said. “If the opening’s there, we take the Core. If it’s not, we hold back and watch. There’ll be a lot of players on the field today.”

Sebastian gave a measured nod. “This mission turned out to be a whole different beast than what any of us prepared for.”

Alan had nothing more to add.

Sebastian swept a glance across Team Ashen’s formation.

“Why is the safehouse still deployed? What’s the holdup?

“Are we not moving yet?”

Alan shook his head. “We’re waiting for someone to come out.”

Sebastian scanned the group and noticed the One–Sigil kid was missing from the lineup. Guess he didn’t make it.

“Secretive bunch,” Sebastian muttered.

Throughout the whole exchange, Cara stood a short distance away from Alan, watching him with unconcealed, unabashed attention.

Olivia caught it and couldn’t help herself. “What are you staring at? Something wrong with you?”

Cara’s eyes snapped over. “Who asked you? I’ll look at whoever I want. If I want to look at my future husband, that’s my business. What are you going to do about it?”

Olivia made a sound of pure disdain. “You’ve got absolutely no shame.”

Cara lifted her chin with sharp, pointed composure. “At least I’ve got other things to offer. You’re just riding on that face of yours.”

Olivia launched into a full verbal assault.

Neither squad’s members made any move to intervene. Nobody wanted to be anywhere near this particular crossfire.

Sebastian watched the exchange with the mild amusement of a bystander, then looked at Alan with a sideways smile.

“You’re not going to step in? These are your unresolved entanglements, you know.”

Alan’s expression didn’t shift even slightly. He treated the scene as though it wasn’t happening.

Sebastian let out a small laugh. “You don’t know how good you’ve got it. Poor Cara deserves better than this kind of indifference”

“If you’re that concerned about her,” Alan said flatly, “go sort it out yourself.”

Chapter 246 Bekering

Sebastian held up both hands in immediate surrender. “I’d never survive it. She only has eyes for you.”

Inside the safehouse, the red glow faded.

Steven looked at his panel.

Beast Energy Conversion.

Conversion Progress: 3,677/1,000,000.

Beast Energy Talent: Eye of Insight 2.

Divine Sigil: B–rank Wind–Fire Divine Sigil, Two–Sigil Lv. 12.

(Divine Sigil Evolution Progress: 12.1%)

Beast–Type Divine Sigil: SSS–rank Crimson–Eyed Heavenfang Sigil, Two–Sigil Lv. 14.

(Beast–Type Divine Sigil Evolution Progress: 14.6%)

Spirit 962/2000.

Strength 1000/2000.

Agility 922/2000.

Speed 922/2000..

Steven let out a long, slow breath.

Four days of conversion, and a thousand stat points gained. That was genuinely pushing the ceiling of what was possible.

He was right on the edge of level 15.

The time simply ran out before he could close that gap.

But his Strength value was already performing at a level 15 equivalent.

Which meant his burst output would exceed level 20 once the armor enhancement and Scorchblood Ignition both activated.

That would have to be enough. The effective combat power was comparable to a Three–Sigil SSS–rank Divine Adept, just without the third sigil pattern activation.

The Wind–Fire Divine Sigil at level 12 was the best he could squeeze out of the time available.

Steven stepped out of the consciousness space.

Time to fight. This situation needs a resolution, and whatever happens next, let’s hope everyone goes home alive.

Nine people. They’d lost one.

Olivia pointed at her, practically vibrating. “Why you…”

Cara turned away with a dismissive flick of her hips.

“I will end you!”

“With what, exactly? You’re barely Four–Sigil. You think that’s enough to take me on, my flat little

sweetheart?

Olívia stared at Cara’s expression, effortlessly confident and infuriatingly radiant, and looked like she was about to detonate.

Alan’s brow creased.

“Could everyone please be quiet?”

Both formidable women went silent instantly.

The transformation was instantaneous and complete.

Sebastian quietly gave Alan another thumbs up from the side.

Both squads were quietly impressed.

Peter drifted over to Steven and dropped his voice to something conspiratorial. “Kid, you’d better hold on to just Bianca. If you ever end up with our captain’s particular brand of magnetism, you’ll exhaust yourself before you’re thirty.”

Steven gave him a deeply unimpressed look. “Get out of here.”

Alan’s voice came out cold and absolute. “Everyone at full focus. We’re entering the city. Our objective is the Celestial Core!”

The mood snapped into something harder and sharper all at once.

Every trace of levity disappeared from every face in the formation as the group moved forward with measured, deliberate steps.

Steven looked at the crumbling city ahead, and the unease that had been pressing against the back of his mind all morning sharpened into something more distinct.

His Spirit had been growing stronger with each passing day, and with it, his sensitivity to the world around him. The closer they drew to those broken walls, the heavier the air became.
