Scarlett frowned slightly and spoke to Ruth, "This is far too valuable. I can't accept it."

Seeing her refusal, Ruth put on a mock stern expression. "This was always meant for you. Even if you turn it down now, I will find another chance to give it to you."

Hearing this, Scarlett finally relented and whispered, "Very well. Thank you."

A warm smile returned to Ruth's face. She looked at Scarlett and said, "I plan to pay a visit to your family during Christmas to meet your parents. What do you think?"

Scarlett knew clearly what this visit implied. She asked herself deep down if she wanted to marry Damian, and her heart gave a definite yes. Joy welled up inside her at the thought of Ruth meeting her family.

Yet unease crept in again when she remembered her divorce from Vincent was not yet fully finalized.

Damian stood nearby, watching every shift of her expression and guessing what was troubling her. He took a step forward, intending to reassure her that it was nothing to worry about.

Before he could reach her, Scarlett nodded and replied, "Alright."

"Does that mean you agree for me to visit your parents?" Ruth asked patiently.

Scarlett met her gaze and nodded once more.

Ruth beamed with delight. "Wonderful! I will definitely come. The Langley family will welcome you into our home with a grand ceremony and honor."

Scarlett glanced toward Damian instinctively. He was looking right back at her, a soft, loving smile playing on his lips. His adoring eyes seemed to say that she had finally chosen to move forward with him.

Though he had not spoken a word, a faint twinge of emotion stirred in Scarlett's heart. She turned her head away and focused her attention on Ruth instead.

Ruth reached out and took her hand. "Come, let's sit over there and have a nice chat."

Scarlett could not decline her kindness and let Ruth lead her to the sofa.

No sooner had they sat down than Ruth asked curiously, "Scarlett, would one billion dollars as a wedding gift be too little?"

Scarlett knitted her brows in surprise. "Pardon?"
