No Second Baby No You Only Divorce (Scarlett and Vincent) novel Chapter 833

Damian lowered his head and pressed a soft kiss to Scarlett's eyelids. He held himself at eye level with her, his voice dropping to a low murmur.

"I technically slept, but my mind never settled. I couldn't stop thinking about you—I had to come see you first thing this morning."

Heat flooded Scarlett's cheeks at his words.

Before she could recover, Damian's arms wound tight around her waist and pulled her flush against his firm chest. Her palms landed flat against his solid pectorals, and the hard muscle beneath her touch only deepened her flush. She shifted nervously, stammering a quiet warning.

"Damian, we're at the Theron Manor. Don't do this."

Though Nathan had given them his silent blessing, Scarlett still didn't dare act so bold inside her family home. Damian had arrived knowing Nathan was already gone, which was why he felt so unrestrained.

His hands never loosened around her waist. He dipped down to brush another light kiss over her lips, a lazy grin tugging at his mouth.

"This place will be my home too someday."

Scarlett had no idea her brother had left for the day, and panic spiked inside her. She twisted slightly, glancing over her shoulder on purpose before tricking him.

"Nathan's coming!"

The words barely left her mouth before Damian instantly let her go. He froze rigidly, fumbling awkwardly with his clothes like a misbehaving kid waiting to be scolded. Scarlett scurried off to the far corner the second he released her.

Damian feared no one but Nathan—he lived in constant worry that her older brother would forbid him from marrying her. He stood there for a long moment, waiting to hear footsteps, yet no one drew near. It hit him that Nathan had left before he'd even shown up that morning, and he'd been played.

He turned slowly, confirmed the kitchen doorway was empty, then shot her a mock glare.

"You tricked me."

Scarlett deflated like a punctured balloon, all energy draining from her body as she slumped against his chest. The warmth of her cheeks seeped through his thin shirt, driving him wild with restless longing.

He'd barely slept a wink the night before, lying awake wondering if he should sneak through her window to spend the night with her. But he'd restrained himself. He could have her anywhere else, but not inside the Theron Manor.

Scarlett understood, and relief stirred in her chest once he pulled back. It touched her deeply that he craved her just as badly yet still managed to hold back for her sake.

She sat on the counter, resting her cheek against his chest, listening to the steady, powerful thud of his heartbeat. Neither spoke for a long while, both letting their heated urges fade. The oatmeal bubbled softly on the stove, its gentle gurgling masking her ragged, uneven breaths.

She'd known she'd fallen for him, but she'd never guessed he'd become such an addiction, something she couldn't get enough of. Several minutes passed before Damian lifted her off the counter and set her safely on her feet. He softened his tone.

"I'll check on the oatmeal. Wait here for me, okay?"

Scarlett watched his retreating back, a quiet, involuntary smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.
