Scarlett snapped back to reality, glancing up at Damian. "I'm pretty sure you can tell Claire doesn't have any romantic feelings for Zachary."
Damian brushed a finger lightly across the tip of her nose, grinning widely. "That's their business. Let them sort it out on their own."
Scarlett said nothing more in reply.
The four of them walked together into the upscale hot spring resort. Right after stepping inside the lobby, they spotted Felix, Eric, and Clara waiting nearby.
Scarlett looked surprised to see her niece so early. "Clara, what brings you here this soon?"
At the sight of Scarlett, Clara scrambled down from her chair, darted forward, and wrapped both arms around Scarlett's legs, bubbling with excitement. "Auntie! Daddy said I could come hang out! I just have to check in with him regularly and can't stay out too long."
Scarlett knelt to hug her, speaking softly. "Got it, sweet girl."
Eric trotted over right afterward and tugged gently at Scarlett's sleeve. "Ms. Theron."
Scarlett crouched down and pulled the little boy into her embrace. "Long time no see, Eric."
Eric cupped her cheeks with his tiny palms. "I've missed you so much."
Warmth flooded Scarlett's heart, and she wrapped one arm around each kid.
Damian stood quietly behind her, not interrupting the sweet moment.
A short distance away, Zachary sidled up next to Claire. "Let me carry your purse."
Claire shifted subtly away from him, her tone cold and distant. "I've got it myself, thanks."
Zachary could feel her pulling away from him, his heart sinking with sorrow, yet he had no clue what to say to fix things.
Scarlett stood back up after letting go of the children, slipping one hand into each of their small palms.
Damian lifted his hand, intending to hold hers, but seeing her occupied with the two little ones, he slowly dropped his arm back down to his side.
Led by a resort server, all seven guests headed toward a secluded private hot spring pool.
Scarlett had packed a swimsuit ahead of the trip, yet the thought of wearing revealing swimwear in front of the whole group made her uneasy; she'd been considering skipping the change and hopping into the water in her regular clothes instead.
Amused by her obvious struggle, Claire chuckled, "There's nothing odd about swimming in proper swimwear. Staying in your regular clothes will only leave you soaked and uncomfortable later."
It finally dawned on Scarlett how awkward soggy street clothes would get once submerged, and she resolved to change into her swimsuit.
After slipping into it, she pulled a loose cover-up over her shoulders.
When they walked back to the poolside, Damian and Zachary had already changed into their swim trunks. Felix remained fully clothed, busy keeping an eye on the two playing kids.
Damian wore nothing but swim bottoms, his toned, muscular torso on full display with defined ab muscles trailing down toward the waistband of his trunks.
Scarlett stole only two quick glances before hastily looking away, her skin burning hot all over.
Zachary walked over to Claire and reached for her cover-up. "Let me take this for you."
Claire tried to insist she could keep wearing it, but he grabbed the outer layer and pulled it off before she could protest.
With the cover-up removed, her sleek, model-like figure was fully exposed.
