The food from the tray was spread across the entire nightstand.
Damian caught a whiff of it, and his mouth started watering.
He instinctively reached out, ready to grab something to eat, but then hesitated, pulled his hand back, and settled against the headboard.
Seeing this, Scarlett asked, confused, "What's going on? You don't like it?"
Damian turned his face toward her and grinned. "I want you to feed me."
Clara was sitting on the edge of the bed, swinging her legs. When she heard Damian, she made a playful face and said, "You are such a grown-up and you're still acting like a baby. How embarrassing!"
Damian chuckled softly. "I'm not acting like a baby. It's just... if your aunt feeds me, I'm pretty sure my injuries will heal way faster."
Clara rolled her eyes at him. "You are just being lazy. Na-na-na-na..."
Damian laughed warmly, his gaze resting on Clara for a moment.
Scarlett knew Damian was just trying to get a rise out of her.
But after a brief pause, she went along with it anyway. She sat down beside the bed, picked up the spoon, and started feeding him some oatmeal.
Careful it might be too hot, she blew lightly on the spoon before bringing it to his lips.
After taking the bite, Damian couldn't help saying, "This is really good."
Scarlett replied softly, "My mom made it. She saved some especially for you."
Hearing that, Damian's smile widened. He didn't hold back. "My future mother-in-law's cooking is amazing."
Scarlett's cheeks flushed bright red. She gave him a light scoff. "Don't call her that yet."
Damian replied shamelessly, "It's only a matter of time."
Scarlett ignored him and kept feeding him.
Damian ate obediently, not picky at all—whatever Scarlett offered, he took.
Clara couldn't stand watching any longer. She hopped off the bed and announced, "I'm gonna go play by myself. You two work on making me a little brother, okay? I want a good one—really, really cute."
With that, she dashed out of Scarlett's bedroom.
Watching her run off, Scarlett sighed, "What a handful."
Even so, her eyes were full of warmth.
Damian glanced up at her. Seeing her content smile, he smiled too.
Once she finished feeding Damian, Scarlett cleared everything away.
When she came back upstairs, Damian was already on his phone.
She didn't say no, but she didn't say yes either.

That morning, when Vanessa woke up, her eyelids felt sticky with sleep.
After rubbing them a few times, she felt more awake.
It was Saturday, so no school.
The first thing Vanessa did after getting up was reach for her tablet.
When she turned it on, she opened a short-form video app. Right there on the trending page was a video breaking down the connections between Vincent, Sabrina, and Daniel.
Seeing it was about her dad, Sabrina, and Uncle Daniel, Vanessa couldn't look away and listened closely.
In the video, the creator broke down each of their profiles one by one.
"Vincent—CEO of Stewart Group, net worth over hundred billion dollars. Known for his cool demeanor and classic good looks. Marital status isn't public, but he's referred to Sabrina as his girlfriend in interviews.
"Sabrina—Ph.D. candidate and practicing physician. Skilled in piano, singing, and acting; won last year's National Model Search. Comes from a modest background but carries herself with total grace—pretty much everyone's dream girl.
"Daniel—CEO of Lennox Group, also worth around hundred billion. Down-to-earth personality with a fun, outgoing side—easy on the eyes and seriously successful."
