Noelle was actually just making excuses. She just simply did not want to stay with the Liddells. Frank grew anxious. "You're already here. Why not stay and have dinner with us before you go?"

She replied, "Like I said, I have something else to do. You guys go ahead and eat."

As she was about to leave, Carl spoke up. "Noelle, I'll be leaving in a few days."

She then asked with concern, "How's Mrs. Greene doing right now?"

Carl's leaving would cause Emma's treatment to come to an abrupt halt. Noelle wondered if that would have any negative impacts on Emma.

Carl answered calmly, "Like I said, Mrs. Greene's treatment is going to be a long-term project. What happened to her is not something that can be cured in a short amount of time."

"Will the hospital be able to handle the treatment after you leave?" That was what Noelle was truly concerned about.

Carl just looked at her calmly. "You've been really worried about an outsider this entire time. Don't you care about me at all?"

Noelle felt rather uneasy under his gaze. "You're just going back to work, no? It's not like you're sick or anything."

Donovan chimed in with a sarcastic tone. "Carl has a lot of research to be done back at the island. Staying around here has been delaying his progress. Do you have any idea how much money it costs for the island and its research to operate for just a single day?"

Noelle had not actually considered that. Even though many things were different now, Carl still had not yet done anything extreme to her as he did in her past life. However, the trauma of her past still lingered in her heart.

Noelle looked at Carl and replied, "Can Mrs. Greene's treatment be handed over to the hospital staff?"

Carl could tell that the concern within Noelle's eyes were for Emma, not him.

The only reason she was still politely speaking with him was because he was in charge of Emma's treatment.

Blake nodded. "That's right. I remember that Mrs. Greene herself didn't agree with the two of you being together, and Mrs. Greene Senior also opposed it.

"Things are rather complicated for extremely rich families like theirs. Don't fall for Cedric's sweet talk, Noelle."

Noelle stared at all of them and replied, "The reason the Greene family didn't approve of our relationship was because they knew who I really was, and they were worried that the truth of the car accident being revealed would affect our relationship."

Blake continued, "That just proves that you really know nothing, Noelle. Elite folks like them only care about marrying each other for power, and they'll make up any and all excuses just to make it happen. You've already lost if you really believe them for what they say."

Frank explained, "That's right. The Greene family is only treating you well right now because they're relying on Carl for Mrs. Greene's treatment. They wouldn't have bothered with you otherwise."

Carl looked up at Noelle and said, "You're my sister, Noelle. I would never hurt you."

Noelle's eyes immediately flashed with a look of mockery. Carl would never hurt her, but he could make her life a fate worse than death. That was exactly what happened in her past life.
