Noelle sneered and replied, "What goes around comes around."
Ruth was still unwilling to admit defeat. "It's all your fault!"
Noelle then replied, "It's always somebody else's fault for you Merlocks, isn't it? You would never blame yourself for anything.
"Unfortunately for you, the judge doesn't think the same as you and will only pass judgment based on evidence. Rather than wasting time hating on others, you should think about how to spend the little time you have left."
With that, she turned around and left. She did not want to stay around any longer.
Echoing from behind her was Ruth's screams. "Come back! Both of you! Come back here!"
In the end, Ruth was restrained and taken away.
After heading outside, Noelle found Emma standing alone by the roadside with her hands raised as if she had been wiping away her tears. She did not approach Emma immediately. She wanted to give Emma a moment alone to collect herself.
Noelle turned to Cedric and said, "Mrs. Merlock has really lost her mind."
Cedric was filled with regret.
"I regret not exposing Mrs. Merlock sooner. I should've stopped my Mom from being in such close contact with Mrs. Merlock years ago. Maybe things wouldn't have ended up like this if I had done so."
Noelle replied, "This isn't your fault. Before we found out about the truth, nobody even could've guessed that Mrs. Merlock was capable of doing something so insane."
It was safe to say that Ruth's actions had gone beyond what would be considered basic human decency.
Emma quickly composed herself. She then looked back at Noelle and said, "I'll definitely make it to testify in court. Someone as vile as her deserves to pay with her life."
Noelle stepped forward to hug Emma. "Once this is over, everything will finally be at peace."
Emma's eyes turned red as she nodded. "Yes."
