My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 68

"What do you mean?" Seraphina asked, caught off guard.

"I heard she was locked in a holding cell with a complete lunatic and got terrorized the entire night," Lucian said casually.

Seraphina was speechless.

What a coincidence.

"Mommy, Daddy totally set that up to get back at her for you!" Little Bean cheered happily.

Seeing Seraphina stay quiet, Lucian continued, "Locking her up right now would be letting her off too easy. Let her run around for a bit."

Seraphina stared at him blankly.

"What does she value most?" Lucian asked.

Seraphina thought about it for a second. "Her reputation... and Sebastian."

The corners of Lucian's lips hooked into an icy, calculating smile. "Exactly. That's why we are going to systematically destroy everything she cares about. We'll rip her reputation to shreds and leave her with absolutely nothing. Once she hits rock bottom, we'll deliver the final blow."

Seraphina looked at Lucian, a rush of complicated emotions swelling in her chest.

This man was far more ruthless than she had ever imagined.

But every ounce of his ruthlessness was aimed at protecting her.

"Lucian," she called out softly.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

Lucian's expression remained calm. "There's no need to thank me."

Little Bean rolled around wildly in her womb. "Daddy's definitely falling for Mommy! He's so invested in everything about you!"

Seraphina blushed, quickly lowering her head to focus on her food.

Lucian noticed the faint red tint on her ears, and the smile in his eyes deepened.

Right before heading out the door, Lucian suddenly remembered something. "Oh, by the way. I'll have the driver pick you up for lunch today."

"Okay." Seraphina found it a bit sudden, but she didn't question it.

Shortly after, Lucian left for the office.

Truthfully, Lucian had taken Susan's words to heart. She had mentioned that Seraphina's morning sickness was severe and she barely had an appetite lately.

Lucian wanted to take her somewhere nice to see if a change of scenery could help her eat a proper meal.

...

But no reply came.

Sienna waited five minutes, then ten, then twenty.

The screen went dark, lit up with a notification, and went dark again.

Still nothing from him.

She bit her lip and sent another message: "Don't you believe me? I swear I didn't do anything to betray you. Seraphina hired that man to destroy me and ruin what we have together."

Still no reply.

Sienna's eyes welled with tears, and she tossed her phone aside.

Sebastian had never treated her like this.

Before, no matter how busy he was, he would always text back, even if it was just a quick "yeah."

But now, he wouldn't even spare her a single word.

This was all that bitch Seraphina's fault.

How was she supposed to win him back?
