My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 52

Excellent!

It was exactly as he had anticipated.

The two of them stepped into the banquet hall, which was already buzzing with clinking glasses and the rustle of designer silk.

Almost all of the city's socialites and political elites had arrived.

Seraphina's appearance immediately caused a stir.

"Is that Lucian Langford's new wife? The Simmons girl?"

"She's pretty, but who knows how long she'll last. Mr. Langford isn't exactly easy to get along with."

"I heard she's pregnant. A shotgun wedding, probably?"

"He used to be so close with the Monroe girl. I thought they'd end up together."

"Right? But I heard Melody Monroe is coming back soon. There's bound to be a good show when she does."

Whispers drifted in from all directions, but Seraphina turned a deaf ear to them.

Lucian, however, paused his steps and cast a cold, sweeping glance over the gossips.

The group immediately fell silent, hastily looking away.

In this city, no one dared to truly cross Lucian Langford.

"Ignore them," Lucian murmured, leading her further inside.

Seraphina nodded, a rush of warmth blooming in her chest.

This man rarely said much, but he always protected her.

It made her feel incredibly safe.

...

On the other side of the banquet hall, a black luxury car slowly pulled up.

With her arm looped through Sebastian Sullivan's, Sienna Simmons stepped into the hall in five-inch heels, the picture of practiced elegance.

She was wearing a royal blue mermaid gown, her makeup flawless and her long hair cascading over her shoulders. It was obvious she had dressed to kill.

Sienna always loved showing off and being the center of attention.

Only today, she had miscalculated.

Compared to Seraphina's breathtaking champagne haute couture, Sienna's outfit instantly looked dull.

"Ms. Simmons, Mr. Sullivan, right this way."

"Sebastian, what are you looking at? Did you see someone you know?" Sienna asked, feigning sweet innocence.

Sebastian snapped out of his daze. "Nothing."

Nothing?

The word felt like a slap to Sienna's face.

He was clearly staring at Seraphina, yet he brushed it off.

If he was so obsessed with that bitch, why did he even get together with her?

Sienna gritted her teeth, barely maintaining her polite smile.

"Oh, Seraphina is here today too," she noted with forced casualness. "It seems Mr. Langford treats her quite well, bringing her to an event like this."

Sebastian didn't engage, merely giving a noncommittal hum.

But his eyes kept drifting back to Seraphina.

He didn't know why, but the current Seraphina possessed an irresistible magnetism.

She radiated light just by standing there.

Compared to her, Sienna severely paled in comparison.
