"You almost got me killed," Seraphina whispered.
Her heart had just been in her throat.
Thankfully, Lucian had believed her and didn't press the issue, otherwise she wouldn't have known how to answer.
Little Bean giggled in her mind. "Mommy, you reacted so fast! That guy named Fletcher—I saw his face! He's going to come negotiate with The Langford Group in a month. I saw exactly what he looked like!"
Seraphina let out a helpless laugh.
"You need to warn me ahead of time from now on. Don't just spring things on me like that."
"I did warn you! I told you the second I woke up!" Little Bean argued defensively.
Seraphina thought about it, and he actually had a point.
She picked up her bowl of oatmeal, slowly finishing it while her mind wandered to another problem.
If Lucian actually went out and acquired Paradox Logic just because of her "dream," what would he think when their stock inevitably skyrocketed?
Would he suspect she had some kind of superpower?
Or would he just chalk it up to blind luck?
Seraphina shook her head, forcing the thoughts away.
Using the table for support, she slowly stood up and began pacing back and forth across the living room.
Susan had mentioned that walking more during the late stages of pregnancy would make the delivery smoother.
As she walked, she gently rubbed her belly, chatting softly with Little Bean.
"Do you think your dad will actually believe it?"
"Of course! My dad is super smart!" Little Bean's tone was brimming with adoration. "Plus, he loves Mommy the most. He believes whatever Mommy says!"
Seraphina couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You certainly know how to flatter him."
"I'm just telling the truth!" Little Bean huffed. "Think about it, Mommy. Since you married him, has he ever said no to you?"
Seraphina paused to seriously consider the question.
He really hadn't.
Whatever she wanted to eat, Lucian would send someone to fetch it.
Wherever she wanted to go, Lucian would accompany her.
Financial reports from the past two years showed nothing but consistent losses.
By all accounts, it looked like an ordinary, struggling startup on the verge of bankruptcy.
Lucian then searched for the name Alistair Fletcher.
Even less information popped up. There were only a few academic papers bearing his name as an author, along with a single article covering an industry forum from three years ago.
The photograph showed Alistair as a tall, thin man wearing glasses, looking to be in his forties.
It was an exact match to Seraphina's description.
Lucian stared at the photo for a long time, a slight frown creasing his forehead.
Sera had never been to Aventine, nor did she ever pay attention to the tech industry.
There was no way she could have known what Alistair Fletcher looked like, much less that he was left-handed.
Yet, she had spoken with absolute certainty.
Lucian recalled her expression when she had spun her tale.
She hadn't dared to meet his eyes, her spoon endlessly stirring her bowl as her lips pressed tightly together.
