My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 242

Lawrence didn't answer, but a calculating glint appeared in his eyes.

After a moment, he murmured, "There's no rush. Let's wait and see how things play out."

Out in the garden.

Eleanor Langford leaned on her walking stick with one hand while gently holding Seraphina Simmons' arm with the other. They strolled leisurely, admiring the vibrant flora.

The hydrangeas were in full bloom, clustered together in breathtaking shades of blue, purple, and pink.

"Sera," Eleanor suddenly spoke up.

"Yes, Eleanor?"

"Don't take what they said earlier to heart," the older woman said, her tone dead serious. "Lawrence and his wife have absolutely no filter. They are narrow-minded, sharp-tongued, and always looking for a way to exploit someone."

Seraphina offered a soft smile. "I didn't let it bother me."

"Good," Eleanor patted her hand warmly. "Always remember, you are the lady of the Langford family, and you are carrying my great-grandson. If anyone ever dares to give you an ounce of attitude, you tell me. I'll put them right in their place."

Her words were fiercely protective and full of love.

A wave of warmth washed over Seraphina, and her eyes grew slightly misty. "Thank you."

"What are you thanking me for?" Eleanor gave her a playful, scolding look. "We're family. There's no need for that."

Just then, Lucian approached from behind.

"Grandma," he greeted, seamlessly slipping to Seraphina's other side and gently supporting her arm.

Watching the two of them, the corners of Eleanor's lips curled into a deep smile.

"Lucian," she said.

"Yes?"

"Treat Sera well. Don't ever let her down."

Lucian sat right next to her, immediately sliding a plate of rich stew in front of her. "Have some of this first."

Charlene watched the exchange, sharing a silent, meaningful look with Lawrence. Neither said a word.

Halfway through the meal, Eleanor brought up a new topic. "By the way, Sera's due date is next month. Are the hospital arrangements finalized?"

Lucian nodded. "Everything is set. The top maternity specialists in the city will be on standby the entire time."

"That's a relief," Eleanor sighed, turning to Seraphina. "I'll be right there at the hospital with you. You have nothing to fear."

Seraphina smiled and nodded.

Charlene seized the opportunity to interject. "Eleanor, you're getting older. Hospitals are exhausting. Let me go and stay with Sera instead. You can rest easy."

Eleanor shot her an icy glare. "And what exactly would you do there? It'll be a miracle if you don't just get in the way."

It was incredibly clear that Eleanor knew exactly what kind of person Charlene was.
