Sienna leaned forward, her voice breathless with desperation. "He's been actively hunting for partners! If you're willing to meet with him, he'll be absolutely thrilled."
Melody smiled gracefully. "Then go ahead and set up a time."
Sienna nodded vigorously. "I'll tell him the second I get home!"
Melody stood up, smoothing her designer dress. "I think we're done here. I have other engagements to attend to."
Sienna shot out of her chair. "Let me walk you out."
Melody waved her off, grabbing her purse. "Don't bother."
Sienna stood in the center of the private room, watching the door swing shut as a twisted, triumphant smile slowly spread across her face.
She practically ripped her phone out of her bag and immediately texted Zelda: "Meeting finished. Everything went perfectly."
Next, she texted Sebastian: "Sebastian, Melody Monroe wants to discuss a partnership with you."
After hitting send, she was practically vibrating with adrenaline.
Melody was right. Seraphina wasn't the only player on the board with the technology.
Did Seraphina really think holding that patent made her untouchable?
Did she think everyone was going to bow down to her?
Sienna had thought this entire situation was a dead end.
She never could have dreamed that Melody Monroe would swoop in to save her.
The Monroe family wielded terrifying influence in the capital. With their backing, she could mount a flawless comeback and crush Seraphina once and for all.
Sienna flagged down a cab and headed straight back to the Simmons Estate.
The moment she walked through the front door, her phone buzzed in her hand.
It was a reply from Sebastian.
"Melody Monroe? Why the hell would she want to work with me?"
Sienna's fingers flew across the keyboard. "Melody said the Monroes are heavily invested in the new energy sector too! Her goals align perfectly with your project. It's a win-win."
Sienna blinked. "Mom, what do you mean?"
"A woman who grew up side-by-side with a man, whose families are practically inseparable, suddenly decides she hates his new wife with a burning passion? You really think there's no hidden agenda there?"
Zelda gave her a hard look. "Don't be so naive, Sienna. Melody might say there's nothing between them, but her heart says otherwise."
Sienna considered it for a moment and realized her mother was probably right. But then again, she didn't care.
"Mom, whatever her reasons are, as long as she's willing to help me, that's all that matters."
Zelda nodded slowly. "True. Just keep your guard up. Don't let yourself get used as a pawn without realizing it."
Sienna laughed lightly. "Don't worry, Mom. I know exactly what I'm doing."
Zelda opened her mouth to say more, but Sienna was already up and heading for the stairs.
Watching her daughter walk away, Zelda couldn't shake the creeping feeling that Melody Monroe was incredibly dangerous, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.
Maybe she was just being paranoid.
