My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 190

Begging Lucian Langford for a bailout...

He would rather die.

Sebastian closed his eyes and took a ragged breath.

"Mom, just give me some time to think."

Seeing the torment etched across her son's face, Victoria didn't push him any further.

A crushing wave of regret washed over him.

He hated himself for throwing Seraphina away.

If he had just honored his original engagement to Seraphina, would any of this be happening?

Seraphina would never have faked a pregnancy. She would never have blackmailed him into marriage. She would never have cornered him into financial ruin.

But dwelling on the past was completely useless now.

She was married to Lucian.

And Sebastian no longer even had the right to speak to her.

He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned entirely white.

At the Simmons Estate.

Sienna strolled through the front doors.

One look at the smug confidence radiating from her daughter's face told Zelda Gates that the meeting had gone exactly as planned.

"So? What did Sebastian say?"

Sienna smirked. "He said he needs to think about it."

"Think about it?"

Zelda frowned in confusion. "What's left to think about? He marries you, you bail out his company. It's a win-win situation."

Sienna chuckled softly. "Mom, relax. The fact that he didn't throw the offer back in my face means he's seriously considering it. And as long as he's considering it, I have him on the hook."

Zelda pondered this and nodded slowly, though a thread of anxiety remained.

"But what if he ultimately refuses?"

Sienna's smile was icy.

Sienna had specifically instructed the kitchen staff to prepare a massive, luxurious feast.

The moment Samuel walked through the door, she rushed over to greet him with a bright, welcoming smile. "Dad, you're back! Was work exhausting today?"

Samuel glanced at her, mildly surprised by the sudden influx of affection, but brushed off his suspicions as he swapped his dress shoes for slippers and headed to the dining room.

The table was heavily laden with all his favorite dishes.

Sienna ladled a serving of soup into a bowl and placed it gently in front of him. "Dad, have some soup. It'll help you unwind after a long day," she murmured softly.

Samuel picked up his spoon and took a slow sip, nodding in approval. "Mm. That's very good."

Halfway through the meal, Sienna deliberately set her silverware down and let out a heavy, tragic sigh.

Samuel paused, looking up from his plate. "What's wrong?"

Sienna lowered her eyelashes, her voice thick with rehearsed guilt and sincerity.

"Dad, I know what I did before was completely unforgivable, and I know I thoroughly humiliated you. I've spent all this time locked in my room reflecting, and I realize how incredibly selfish and immature I've been. I've caused you so much stress."

Samuel set his fork down, his full attention now on her, though he remained quiet.

Pressing her advantage, she continued. "I want to turn over a new leaf. I want to start doing real work and prove that I can be an asset to you. I can't just hide in this house forever while everyone laughs at us."
