My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 19

Inside the grand dining room, Seraphina was blissfully unaware of the psychological warfare happening by the front doors.

Eleanor gently guided her into the seat right next to the head of the table, which was currently groaning under the weight of an exquisite feast.

There was tender roast beef, perfectly baked salmon, creamy bisque, and a massive tureen of rich, slow-simmered chicken broth.

"Here, eat up," Eleanor urged, personally transferring prime cuts of meat onto Seraphina's plate. "You're eating for two now, so you need all the nutrients you can get. Look at how slender you are! We need to put some weight on you."

Staring at the mountain of food, Seraphina let out a helpless laugh. "Grandma, this is way too much, I could never finish this..."

Eleanor shot her a stern look. "Do you think growing a baby is easy work? Let me tell you, when I was pregnant with Lucian's father, I could easily polish off an entire roast chicken by myself..."

Sitting directly across from them, Lucian's mouth twitched imperceptibly.

*Mommy, Great-Grandma is so good to you!* Little Bean sighed, drowning in pure bliss. *With her backing us up, we can rule this place!*

Seraphina couldn't help but smile.

Why was this kid constantly plotting total domination?

"Oh, that reminds me." Eleanor suddenly stopped eating and turned her sharp gaze onto Lucian. "When exactly are you planning to hold the wedding?"

Lucian's hand paused mid-air.

Seraphina completely froze.

A wedding?

"Grandma, we've already registered the license," Lucian replied smoothly.

"Paperwork is paperwork, a wedding is a wedding," Eleanor declared, refusing to compromise. "A man of the Langford family taking a bride cannot happen in the shadows! Besides, Sera is expecting. The sooner we throw the wedding, the better. We certainly can't wait until she starts showing!"

Seraphina's mind spun.

She and Lucian were bound by a strict business contract. Walking down the aisle in front of thousands of people...

*Mommy!* Little Bean began bouncing off the walls again. *A wedding! The dress! I want to see you in a gorgeous wedding dress! You'll be the prettiest bride ever!*

Seraphina silently begged him: *Can you please just chill out for five seconds?*

Seraphina's brows knit together tightly.

She stared at the flashing screen, her fingertips hovering over the device.

Sebastian.

She assumed he would wait at least a few days to lick his wounds before crawling back, but he was apparently losing his mind already.

*Mommy, don't answer it!* Little Bean's alarm bells went off, his voice dripping with intense hostility. *That toxic jerk is definitely up to no good! He's just trying to manipulate you for your shares and your patent!*

Seraphina didn't rush to answer, her eyes turning glacial as she stared at the caller ID.

Eleanor noticed her sudden tension. "Sera, what's wrong? Who is calling?"

"No one important," Seraphina lied smoothly, flashing a reassuring smile as she reached to end the call.

Suddenly, Lucian's hand shot out across the table, his long, elegant fingers effortlessly plucking the phone from her grasp.

He glanced at the glowing name, and a dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.
