My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 186

Seraphina had already guessed as much and remained silent.

Lucian continued, "Then, the second she saw me, she burst into tears and claimed the guy ripped her dress open."

He paused, his voice dropping slightly. "But judging by how the fabric looked, there was no way it was pulled open by force."

Little Bean whispered excitedly. *See, Mom? Dad noticed everything.*

Lucian turned his full attention to Seraphina. "Did you know?"

She met his gaze head-on. "Know what?"

"Did you know she was faking it?"

Seraphina kept her tone perfectly level. "I had no idea."

Lucian stayed quiet for a long moment before reaching out and gently ruffling her hair.

"If something like this happens again, I'll send someone else to deal with it. There won't be a next time."

Hearing that quiet promise, Seraphina felt a sudden flutter in her chest.

What was he trying to say?

Was this his way of proving his loyalty?

Did this mean he actually cared for her, even just a little?

The next morning, by the time Seraphina woke up, Lucian had already left for the office.

She had just finished getting ready and was heading downstairs when her phone began to ring.

Glancing at the screen, she noticed it was an unsaved number.

Hesitating for a brief second, she tapped to answer.

A familiar male voice echoed through the speaker.

"Sera, it's me."

Seraphina stiffened slightly.

She had blocked all of Sebastian Sullivan's numbers ages ago. She hadn't expected him to go through the trouble of finding a burner phone just to reach her.

She let out a dry laugh, dripping with absolute mockery.

"Sebastian, I married Lucian Langford. Do I look like I'm hurting for cash?"

The line went completely dead quiet.

After several agonizing seconds, Sebastian's voice returned, heavy with bitter resentment.

"Are you still punishing me?"

Seraphina knew exactly where he was going with this, but she refused to indulge him.

He answered his own question anyway.

"You're still mad that I didn't choose you."

Hearing those words, Seraphina genuinely burst into laughter.

There was no malice or heartbreak in the sound—she just genuinely found his sheer arrogance hilarious.

"Sebastian, you are delusional. Whatever happened between us is ancient history. I'm not keeping the patent from you out of spite. I'm keeping it because it was never yours to begin with."
