Zelda helped Sienna into a seat, allowing Sienna to finally lower her voice and ask, "Mom, did you confirm everything with Dr. West?"

A smug smirk touched Zelda's lips. "Yes. I texted her on the way over, and she replied that everything is ready. We just need to head straight to her office."

Sienna nodded in immense relief. "Good. Once this is on official medical records, Seraphina won't be able to deny it even if she tries."

Approaching them from down the hall, Samuel frowned. "What are you two doing hovering around out here? Hurry up and see the doctor. I'll wait here."

Helping Sienna back to her feet, Zelda urged, "Let's go, Sienna. We need to find Dr. West."

The mother and daughter arrived at a closed office door bearing a golden plaque: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Wendy West.

Just as Zelda raised her hand to knock, frantic, rapid footsteps echoed from the corridor behind them.

A middle-aged woman in a white coat came practically sprinting toward them, her face pale with sheer panic.

It was Dr. Wendy West.

Seeing her approach, Zelda plastered on her most flattering smile. "Dr. West..."

But Sienna instantly sensed something was horribly wrong. She dropped her voice to a frantic whisper. "Dr. West? What happened?"

Looking nervously over her shoulder to ensure no one was listening, Dr. West leaned in, her voice trembling. "Miss Simmons, I can't help you today. I'm wiring the money back to your account immediately."

Sienna's blood ran cold. "What do you mean?"

Dr. West looked absolutely terrified. "The hospital director just called our department personally. He mandated that every single medical report regarding you tonight must be one-hundred-percent factual. He said anyone who dares to forge a single document will be blacklisted from every hospital in the city."

"The director said the executives from the Langford family are personally overseeing this case."

Hearing the name "Langford," Sienna felt like she had been struck by lightning.

"Whatever grudge you have, leave me out of it."

"I still need my medical license to survive in the city."

Without another word, Dr. West spun on her heel and practically sprinted away, vanishing at the end of the corridor.

Rooted to the spot, Sienna's already pale face took on a ghostly, sickly hue.

Total panic set in for Zelda. She gripped Sienna's hand tightly. "Sienna, what do we do? If this hospital won't work, we need to transfer to another one immediately!"
