My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 124

"Yeah, I figured as much."

Seraphina gazed out at the blooming roses in the garden, the sweet floral scent drifting on the breeze.

She suddenly felt like her life was incredibly peaceful and beautiful.

Whatever messy drama Sienna was wrapped up in had absolutely nothing to do with her anymore.

As she was lost in thought, the sound of familiar footsteps approached from behind.

Lucian had returned home early. With his suit jacket draped casually over his forearm, he exuded an aura of effortless elegance.

"Why are you sitting out here all alone? Don't catch a cold in the breeze," Lucian said smoothly.

Seraphina tilted her head up and flashed him a smile. "You're home early today?"

"Wrapped up my meetings, so I figured I'd head back," Lucian replied.

"Oh please, Mommy, Daddy just missed you," Little Bean giggled.

Seraphina was speechless.

This cheeky little kid!

The two of them headed into the dining room, where Susan had already set out a beautiful spread.

Every single dish was one of Seraphina's favorites.

During dinner, Lucian brought up the land auction.

"...The bidding is on Monday," Lucian said, placing a tender piece of honey-glazed salmon onto Seraphina's plate. "I've officially withdrawn our bid for The Eastside Plot, and the base price for The Riverside Parcel is locked in."

Seraphina felt a wave of relief wash over her. It looked like Lucian had actually taken her advice.

Thank goodness.

She was so glad he was willing to listen.

Like the old saying went: those who listen to good advice never go hungry.

"What about the Sullivan Group?" she asked carefully.

A faint, mocking smirk touched Lucian's lips. "Sebastian is currently shadowboxing. He's convinced we're trying to steal The Eastside Plot from him, so he's jacked his bid all the way up to $2.2 billion."

"$2.2 billion?" Seraphina's eyes widened in shock.

Inside her belly, Little Bean gasped. "Wow, that jerk has a lot of money! But Mommy, he's going to regret it so much, hehe."

Lucian watched her giggle out of nowhere, looking slightly bewildered. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing," Seraphina quickly reeled in her smile. "Just remembered something funny."

There was no way Seraphina could ever tell Lucian her secret.

No one would believe it anyway.

They'd probably lock her up in a psychiatric ward for sounding like a total psycho.

She definitely needed to be more careful going forward.

Lucian stared at her for a couple of seconds but didn't press the issue.

He had noticed Seraphina had a habit of laughing randomly to herself, and sometimes she even muttered under her breath.

While he found it a little odd, he didn't dwell on it.

Everyone had their own little quirks, didn't they?

And honestly, Lucian found it quite endearing.
