My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 114

She was standing there in her slate-blue tailored dress, looking as though she were glowing in the afternoon sunlight.

A chauffeur hurried over and respectfully opened the car door for her.

Seraphina offered a slight nod and gracefully slid into the back seat.

It was a Langford family vehicle, a black Maybach that radiated understated luxury.

Sienna looked away, a suffocating wave of despair crashing over her.

Seraphina.

Why did she always have to haunt her?

Why was it that every time she thought she had finally won, Seraphina would suddenly appear and steal all the light?

Sienna closed her eyes and took a deep, trembling breath.

It didn't matter.

She told herself it didn't matter.

Just because Seraphina was riding high right now didn't mean it would last forever.

A prestigious household like the Langfords had countless strict rules. How long could an abandoned daughter of the Simmons family actually survive there?

Just wait and see.

Sienna opened her eyes, a cold, calculating smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

Meanwhile, sitting in the back of the Maybach, Seraphina let out a long sigh of relief.

Honestly, she still wasn't used to navigating these elite social gatherings; her face felt stiff from forcing so many polite smiles.

Little Bean shifted around in her belly. "Mommy, that Mrs. Lyndon was so nice to you!"

"Mhm," Seraphina replied in her mind. "But she was mostly being nice to me out of respect for your dad."

"That's still super impressive! You sounded like such a pro when you were drinking that tea. You totally amazed all those fancy ladies!"

Seraphina couldn't help but smile.

Her phone buzzed.

It was Lucian: "Are you finished?"

Seraphina quickly typed back: "Just left. I'm in the car."

"Did anyone give you a hard time?"

...

Seraphina had just changed into her loungewear when she heard the sound of the front door opening.

She looked up to see Lucian walking in. He came over and took a seat next to her.

"Are you tired today?" he asked, his gaze dropping to her slightly rounded belly.

"I'm alright, just smiled a bit too much." Seraphina rubbed her cheeks, revealing a rare, endearing flash of vulnerability. "My face feels completely stiff."

Watching her act so charmingly relaxed, the corners of Lucian's mouth curled upward.

"If you don't want to go next time, just decline. There's no need to force yourself." Lucian Langford's wife didn't need to bend to anyone's whims.

"I couldn't do that. Mrs. Lyndon was so gracious; it would have been rude to turn her down," Seraphina said, shaking her head. "By the way, why are you home so early? Things are slow at the office?"

"Finished my meetings. Nothing urgent," Lucian said, leaning back lazily against the sofa.

Little Bean gave a little kick. "Mommy, Dad definitely came home early because he was worried about you. What a great husband."

Seraphina ignored her little chatterbox.

Suddenly, Lucian's phone rang.
