My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 493

Chapter 493

“It’s not incest, you illiterate bastard.”

“Sure.”

“It’s objectively not.”

“Fantastic. Wonderful. Congratulations.”

I contemplated smashing his head into the marble.

Dante pointed at me, “But while you’re busy trying to fuck up Dad’s blood pressure, I’ve been busy creating my own problems.”

Adriano narrowed his eyes, “Dante.”

Dante rubbed his face.

“Dante,” Adriano repeated.

“What?”

“What did you do?”

Dante stared at the grave, then at the sky. The bastard actually looked embarrassed.

Finally he sighed, “I’m sleeping with a married woman.”

Silence.

Adriano blinked.

I blinked.

“Wait,” I said, “That’s the confession?”

“No.”

The word came out so fast it almost overlapped mine.

“No, that’s just the introduction.”

Adriano immediately groaned, “Oh, Jesus Christ.”

“The husband is an arms supplier.”

Adriano paused, “…Okay.”

“The biggest one we work with.”

Adriano’s grin disappeared, “…Okay.”

Dante looked at our mother’s grave, “He doesn’t know.”

Adriano smacked Dante’s head, “You suicidal motherfucker.”

“Thank you.”

“That wasn’t a compliment,” I stated.

Adriano ran a hand through his hair,.”You are sleeping with the wife of a man who literally owns anti-aircraft missiles.”

Dante nodded, “Correct.”

“A man with private soldiers,” I asked.

“Correct.”

“Are you out of your fucking mind?” Adriano barked, “That man supplies half the Chicago Outfit’s hardware pipelines. Half. You understand what that means?”

I swung my leg off the bike and stood. I exhaled slowly, already thinking about nothing.

That was the plan.

Nothing.

Then I saw her.

At first I thought my eyes were adjusting wrong. The darkness plays tricks when your mind is still too sharp from too much adrenaline.

But she didn’t move.

Gianna was sitting on the trunk of one of the cars like she had always been there for a time now. Knees drawn up slightly, arms resting on them, head tilted just enough to look in my direction.

Waiting.

My steps slowed without permission.

I didn’t stop them. I just… noticed it happening.

For a second, I didn’t understand what she was doing there then it came back. Everything from earlier.

Her voice. The words. The way she had looked at me like I was something she needed to push away fast before it got worse.

My jaw tightened slightly. So this was it, the ending part. She came to finish it clean.

I walked closer, slower than usual. My boots made small sounds. I stopped a few steps away from her.

Gianna didn’t stand up, she just watched me. For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Finally, I broke it first, “Is your mother okay?”
