My Stepbrother's Dirty Little Secret novel Chapter 238

Chapter 238

“Getting to know each other like this… it wasn’t part of the deal,” she said, her voice regaining a bit of its strength. She looked at me, a small, sad smile on her face, “I’ve already told you things I’ve never told anyone else, Raphael. This wasn’t supposed to be… deep.”

I looked at her, my gaze dropping to her mouth. The hunger was back, a burn in my blood that made the want to pull her back under the covers.

“Platonic,” I hissed, “Real fucking platonic, Gianna. The most platonic night of my fucking life.”

She let out a small, breathless laugh, her own eyes dropping to my mouth, “I feel like you’ve started to abuse that word a little more than I would like…”

“I’ll stop using it the second you stop lying to me about things,” I said, “But until then, it’s my favorite fucking word.”

I felt her body soften as she leaned in toward me. She pressed her lips against mine in a kiss that was slow, and soft. It was a gentle touch that made the hair on my arms stand up. She pulled back just an inch, her breath warm against my mouth.

“I really have to go, Raphael,” she whispered, “The sun is going to be up soon, and I can’t be here when it happens.”

I let my hand drop, my fingers sliding out of those dark messy strands. I nodded once, giving her the space she needed.

She stood up from the bed, my oversized shirt hanging low on her thighs. She looked around the room, her brow furrowing as she looked at the door and then back at me.

“What about the cameras?” she whispered, pointing a shaky finger toward the hall. “There are lenses in every corner. Don’t you think the guards or your family will see me? I’m walking out of your bedroom looking like I just fought for my life.”

“Gianna…”

She turned back fast, her eyes wide, “Yeah?”

“Take the day off,” I said, my jaw tightening as I stared at the ceiling, “We both fucking need it. Go spend time with your mother. She loves you, that’s why she’s so overbearing. God knows I’d give everything I own to have mine care about me one more time.”

A crinkle appeared between her brows, a flash of pity in her eyes that I hated, but then she caught herself. She forced a small, soft smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes.
