Mission: Revenge – The Heiress's Second Life novel Chapter 4

Serena clenched her fists in sheer fury.

She hadn't expected this bitch to be so brazen on her very first day back.-

She really was a country bumpkin with no sense of manners.

She gritted her teeth. "I'd like to see anyone try to touch my things!"

Mr. Harrison, the butler, stood awkwardly in the center of the room, completely torn.

On one hand was Clara, the true heiress he had watched grow up, who had clearly suffered during her years in the countryside.

On the other was Serena, the spoiled favorite whom the master and his new wife doted on unconditionally.

Right at that moment.

The door to the master suite on the second floor swung open.

Vera Lambert walked out, peeling a sheet mask from her face.

Her perfectly manicured fingers tossed the mask aside as a frown creased her forehead. "What is all this shouting about?"

Serena immediately ran to her like she had found her savior. "Mom! She just got here and she's already trying to steal my room! She told the butler to throw my stuff into the servant's quarters. Why should a wild girl from the countryside get the best bedroom? I won't give it up!"

Vera descended the staircase.

Her sharp gaze locked onto Clara's face.

It was the exact replica of the woman she despised.

It filled her with an instant, nauseating surge of jealousy and disgust.

Clara smiled brightly, delivering her words with agonizing slowness. "I'm. Finally. Home."

The words hung heavily in the air.

She absolutely despised being reminded that she was a homewrecker turned trophy wife.

By pressing that exact button, Clara had Vera cornered.

Taking a deep breath, Vera spoke coldly. "Serena, give her the room. You can take the one on the third floor next to Christian."

Clara's long eyelashes fluttered.

Christian. Her oldest younger brother, who was fifteen and a freshman in high school.

They were only two years apart and had grown up joined at the hip.

On her twelfth birthday, her mother had been rushing home to sing her happy birthday when the fatal crash occurred.

The Lamberts had constantly twisted the narrative, brainwashing her four brothers into believing it was entirely Clara's fault.

She remembered how, in her past life, Christian had never spoken a single word to her from the day she returned until the day she died.
