Mated to the Alpha: Sold to the King novel Chapter 190

Chapter 190: 0190

Lorelei POV

By late that morning, I found myself standing in a spacious private dressing room, shifting my weight from one foot to the other while the designer Kaelen had sent arrived with her assistants.

"This is the dress the Alpha King personally picked out for you, Miss," she said, gesturing for her assistants to carefully remove the gown from its garment bag.

A soft gasp escaped me the second the fabric caught the light.

The floor-length gown was absolutely beautiful, made from deep midnight-blue silk and covered in thousands of tiny, teardrop-shaped diamond crystals that shimmered with every little movement.

The neckline dipped gracefully off my shoulders, while the fitted bodice hugged my waist in a way that made it obvious the dress had been designed to show off every curve.

"I’ll need to take your exact measurements and make a few adjustments so it fits you perfectly," the designer explained, giving me a polite smile. "Is that alright?"

"Of course," I nodded, still staring at the dress like I couldn’t believe it was actually mine.

A few minutes later, the heavy gown was carefully slipped over my head, and when I finally looked at myself in the floor-length gilded mirror, another soft gasp escaped me.

I barely recognized myself.

The dress completely transformed me.

Unfortunately, my excitement didn’t last very long.

I had naively assumed the adjustments would take a few minutes, but somehow, I ended up standing in the same position for well over an hour while the designer worked around me. She wasn’t simply marking the fabric with chalk and sticking in a few pins either.

She was adjusting the seams, reshaping parts of the gown, and making tiny alterations right there, with her needle moving so quickly and precisely that I was honestly afraid to breathe too hard.

By the time she was halfway through, my throat felt completely dry.

Paul and Isaac weren’t allowed inside the private dressing room, which meant I had no one to even ask for a glass of water.

So I was forced to stand there, trying to maintain perfect posture while repeatedly swallowing my painfully dry saliva and silently wondering how women were expected to survive this kind of torture just to wear a dress.

Finally, she stepped back and gave the dress one last look. "All finished."

The gown now fit me perfectly, hugging my curves before falling into a long, elegant train behind me. It was honestly breathtaking, the kind of dress that actually made me look like I belonged in the position Kaelen had suddenly thrown me into.

I couldn’t help wondering what his reaction would be when he finally saw me wearing it.

Unfortunately, I was far too exhausted to care anymore.

The second the designer unzipped the dress and helped me out of it, I changed back into my comfortable top and loose pants before practically collapsing into a velvet armchair with a long sigh.

The designer packed away her tools, gave me a polite bow, and finally stepped out of the dressing room.

The second the door clicked shut behind her, Paul and Isaac walked back in.
