Chapter 599: The Whole Truth

"Myra, it’s me who should answer your questions, not them," Garry spoke, breaking the heavy silence. Unlike before, his voice wasn’t trembling anymore. She shifted her gaze onto him and waited, her face a mask of indifference, yet her stomach churned with anxiety. She had a feeling that whatever he was going to say next would turn her world upside down.

He began, his voice strained, "I~ ...." he paused, clearing his throat, then continued, "I was there at the hospital, on the day you were born. I was the one who ordered the abduction of you."

Myra’s whole body went rigid. Cold chills ran down her neck and back as her face was awash with sheer disbelief. Her hazels dilated, but she didn’t utter a single word; she couldn’t. Meanwhile, Garry continued, "I paid someone to kidnap you. They made a mistake and picked Nora with you." He said this while looking at Brave and Elio, who were gritting their teeth; their hands balled.

Myra’s fists tightened on either side as well. She was trying to hold back tears and her emotions. With a shaken voice, she asked, "Wh~y? Why would you do that? What did I~ ... even do to you? I was just an infant. So, why?"

"Because~ .... that was the only thing I could do to save you at that time," he replied.

"Save me? Save me from whom?" Myra posed another question as her chest rose and fell heavily; a lump formed in her throat as she tried to restrain herself from crying.

Garry looked down at his veiny hands, then met her eyes again. "From your biological father, Denver Brooks and from those monsters who wanted to use you for their evil deeds."

He recited every single detail of the past: how he got involved with those corrupt people. How meticulously they planned and executed the creation of a miracle baby who could provide them with the life elixir, ’gold blood.’ How every other option failed and how, in the end, they trapped her innocent birth mother, Amelia Clinton. He left nothing out and told them everything truthfully.

With every word, Myra’s heart dropped as if she were plunging into an abyss. The dreams, the visions she had seen in her sleeping state about the young Amelia surged into her brain one after another. ’Denver Brooks, the man I had seen in my dreams a couple of times- that person is my father, and he betrayed my mother all to have my blood? He~ .... he was a scammer from the start?’ She recalled Amy’s devastated, vulnerable state when she reminisced about her past.

"Why didn’t you tell her anything? You could have told her the truth back then," Myra was talking about Amelia. "She could have been saved from those people if you had done so."

"Myra~ ... child. I~ ... am really very sorry. I know I have hurt you deeply, and there is no way I can expect you to accept my apology and forgive me for what I did. But~ ... I don’t regret taking you away that day. If I were to return on that day, I would do the same thing, over and over again," Garry said, his voice firm but his eyes moist.
