Married at First Sight (Serenity and Zachary) novel Chapter 5400

Noelle walked out of Laurence’s study. When the door slipped shut, she stood outside for a bit before heading downstairs.

Jane and Lilian had finished their supper. Jane was cleaning the dishes in the kitchen while Lilian stayed at the dining table. The two ladies seemed to be chatting.

Picking up on Noelle’s footsteps, Lilian stopped talking.

Noelle wanted to do the dishes for Jane, but Jane was done with the task.

“Mom, just leave the dishes to me next time.”

Jane replied, “I’m not helpless. I’ll keep going while I still can. I don’t need to leave the chores to you, especially since you’re already busy every day. You need to relax at home and stop sweating the small stuff.

“Lilian and I aren’t princesses. It won’t kill us to do the dishes. Stop acting as if you let us down.”

After putting away the dishes and cleaning her hands, Jane gave Noelle a squeeze on the cheek. “Lilian is right. I can’t get a good pinch like before. You need to start caring for your skin better.

“Keep up with your skincare routine. Let us know once you’re running low on products. We’ll send them over.

“It’s all about self-care. If you don’t love yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to love you.”

Noelle burst out laughing. “I’m nearly thirty now. Of course, my skin isn’t what it used to be.

“I take my beauty vitamins religiously every morning and never skip my skincare routine at night. I really do take care of myself, but I’m not going to be young forever.”

Noelle trained every day and followed Laurence through wind and rain. No matter how well she took care of herself, she was losing collagen in her skin.

Though supper was not too much, Jane and Lilian still took a stroll in the yard and headed back to their rooms through the medicine field. They washed up and tucked themselves into bed.

Meanwhile, it was eerily quiet at the Longbottoms’ residence. The manor was shrouded in darkness, save for the streetlights out in the back.

It was just an illusion, though.

Not in bed, Tony sat on the couch, and Manny stood next to him, waiting for his instructions.

Amid the darkness, Manny asked, “Pops, they beat our people up last night and got the police involved. Do we proceed with the operation? Security must be tight over at Laurence’s end.”

Tony took his time to respond to Manny. “He’s always ready for us. It’s a nightmare trying to infiltrate the premises.”
