After everyone left, Raymond stayed seated, glanced up at Monica, and asked, “What is it?”

“Raymond, why didn’t you ask me before putting money into the Hales?”

“That’s what you came for?”

“There’s no reason for you to put money in now. It won’t help you or the Newtons.”

Raymond smiled, looking at her with a faint edge.

“Monica, don’t you want the Hales to come back to life?

“It’s your family’s company. I thought you came to thank me.”

Monica froze for a second, then rushed to explain, “No, that’s not it, Raymond. Of course, I want the company back the way it was.
