Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 253

Chapter 253 Look for Him

Duncan’s face dropped, his expression turning dark as he said coldly, “So even now, you’re still thinking about him? Does he even care about you?”

“How could he not?” Monica shot back. “Raymond cares about me; that’s why he saw the Hales falling apa and immediately threw in that much money to help!”

Duncan laughed, his voice thick with mockery.

“What’s so funny? Am I wrong?” Monica snapped. “Duncan, this was your idea. Figure something out and Raymond out of this.”

Duncan’s expression went cold, his voice sharp.

“Monica, you really think he’s doing all this for you, for the Hales?

“Wake up. He’s doing it for Agnes.”

Monica snapped, “You’re talking nonsense! They’re already divorced. Who would go that far for an ex?

“Raymond’s doing this for me, for the Hales!”

Duncan let out a quiet scoff. “Then answer me this. Since the Hales went under, has Raymond contacted you even once?”

Monica froze, unable to respond. It was true. Raymond hadn’t called her. Not once.

But she still refused to believe it, forcing out an excuse.

“He just doesn’t want me to worry. And if it’s like you said, then why not just give the money directly to Agnes? Why inject it into the Hales instead?”.

Duncan sneered, “Why do you think Agnes is working this hard? For your dad.

“And from what I know about Raymond, there’s no way he’d let her handle a mess like this alone.”

Monica stood there stiff, speechless. What Duncan said… made sense.

Then something clicked, and she turned to him.

“You know Raymond… So you already knew he’d step in, didn’t you?”

‘Duncan paused for a split second. He had known.

As long as Agnes was involved in the Hales. Raymond would never stay out of it.

And he would definitely move before Agnes, pouring a huge amount of money into the company.

He had calculated every step.

So back when the Hales first ran into trouble, he had already shorted their stock just waiting for Raymond to inject funds.

The moment Raymond did, Duncan would dump all his shares.

The market would crash, and Raymond’s money would disappear like steam.

The Newtons would be dragged down by Raymond’s stupidity, completely wiped out.

But he didn’t tell Monica any of that.

He knew she still had feelings for Raymond.

The one she really wanted to deal with was Agnes, to push her dad aside and take all the Hales’ assets for herself.

“Ms Hale, without Mr. Newton’s permission, you can’t just barge in like this…”

“Move. I’ve been coming to Newton Group since I was a kid. Since when do I need permission?”

Eden said, “But Mr. Newton specifically said everyone has to check with him first…

Monica snapped, “He wouldn’t treat me like that. I have something urgent to tell him!”

Eden tried again. “Mr. Newton is in a meeting. Why don’t you sit for a moment, and I’ll let him know?”

Monica shoved him aside. “Notify him? Seriously? Why are you so annoying?

“Just because you’ve been around Raymond for a while, you think you’re the CEO now?

“Who do you think you are, giving me a hard time?”

Eden paused. “No, no, that’s not what I meant. I-”

A low male voice came from inside the office. “Let her in.”

Hearing Raymond’s voice, Eden quickly stepped aside.

Monica rolled her eyes at him and muttered, “Unbelievable.”

There were several other people in the office. It looked like they had been in the middle of a meeting.

“Raymond, I need to talk to you. It’s urgent.”

The others immediately stood, bowed slightly to Raymond, and filed out.
