Parrish rubbed his temples, suppressing the heavy frustration in his chest.
"Order whatever you like first. I'll be right there."
Hanging up the phone, he stood up and strode out of the park.
...
When Bonnie returned to the Riverstone Heights apartment, the corners of her eyes were still slightly red.
She patted her cheeks and took a deep breath, forcing herself to toss all those disgusting people and memories to the back of her mind.
She was still in her probationary period, and she absolutely could not bring the drama with Parrish in front of Quentin.
She quickly and efficiently prepared dinner.
At the dining table.
Quentin merely glanced at her, and his brow furrowed slightly.
"Have you been crying?"
Bonnie paused, instantly shaking her head. "No, I was just chopping onions. They stung my eyes."
Quentin didn't call out her lie, merely offering a faint "Hmm."
After finishing his meal, he set down his silverware and slipped a slender finger into his pocket, producing a black credit card that he slid across the table toward her.
"Accompany me to my grandfather's house tomorrow for a family banquet."
"Dress appropriately. Go buy some decent clothes and jewelry."
"From now on, use this card for household expenses. The PIN is the same as the door code."
Bonnie stared at the sleek black card, momentarily stunned before quickly accepting it.
"Okay, I'll go shopping right after dinner."
Once she finished cleaning the kitchen, she took the card and headed out.
...
Inside Harlow City's most extravagant luxury mall.
Bonnie stood in the high-end women's boutique section, surrounded by designer brands she normally wouldn't even dare glance at.
