When they used to kiss, Finn's hand would always brush against that exact spot.

The elevator doors finally slid open.

Sienna hurried out, stopping in front of her door to dig through her purse for her keys.

Finn stood a respectful distance behind her, not attempting to close the gap. Water dripped from the tip of his umbrella, pooling onto the floor and slowly spreading out.

She finally found her keys and unlocked the door.

The moment the door pushed open, the motion-sensor lights in the hallway clicked off.

In the sudden darkness, she could hear his breathing. It was close. So close it felt like he was right next to her ear.

The lights flickered back on.

Finn took a step back, giving her space.

"Goodnight," he said, turning to leave.

"Wait," Sienna blurted out.

Finn froze, turning back in surprise.

"Your clothes are soaked. Let me grab a towel so you can dry off before you go."

A bright spark ignited in Finn's eyes.

He stayed right outside the door, lowering his umbrella to the floor.

He kept to the boundaries perfectly, never once crossing the threshold.

Sienna quickly returned with a fresh towel and handed it to him.

Finn dried his hair and shoulders, then handed it back.

"I'm heading out."

Everything was perfectly calm.

Sienna shut the door.

This restrained version of Finn was nice. He understood boundaries, looking for all the world like a stray puppy caught in the rain.

Noah Sterling stumbled out of his bedroom, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Sienna, who was that?"

"Finn," Sienna said, glancing at the corner of the entryway. "He forgot his umbrella. Go take it down to him."

Noah opened his mouth to say that Finn lived right across the hall, so why would he need anyone to take it down? But he quickly swallowed the words.

"If he gets soaked, he gets soaked. Why do you care?"

"You're useless," Sienna muttered, grabbing the umbrella and heading back out the door.

When she reached the ground floor lobby, she dashed out into the rain.

The downpour was even heavier now, drumming against the umbrella like a frantic snare beat.
