I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 196

She froze.

Finn looked absolutely shattered. His hair was disheveled, and his eyes were heavily bloodshot, making it obvious he hadn't slept a wink.

Typically meticulous about his appearance, his jacket was now dusted with dirt, and his collar was unbuttoned, exposing a patch of sunburned skin near his collarbone.

"I thought you left?" Sienna asked.

Finn took a step forward. He raised his hand, instinctively wanting to touch her, but let it hover in mid-air before pulling it back.

His voice was completely ragged.

"Sienna, everything is my fault. I am so sorry for what I've put you through."

Sienna leaned against the doorframe, watching him without saying a word.

"At the end of the month, come back to Metropolis. It's my mother's birthday gala. I will make her issue a formal, public apology to you. Will that be enough?"

"Just an apology?" Sienna met his gaze.

Finn's eyes brimmed with an agonizing cocktail of pain and exhaustion. He looked like a man who had been crushed under unbearable weight for far too long and was finally breaking down.

"She is my biological mother. I simply don't have it in me to send her to prison."

He paused, his voice dropping to a broken whisper.

"I'm sorry. This is the absolute limit of what I can do for you."

Sienna stared at him for a few long seconds.

Then, she reached out and gently pushed him aside.

"Fine. I'll be there."

A flash of sheer relief sparked in Finn's eyes, like a drowning man clutching onto the last piece of driftwood.

"Thank you."

Sienna didn't reply.

She turned on her heel, walked back into the clinic, and shut the door.

Leaning against the wood, a cold, cynical smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.

Maeve was absolutely right.

Finn would never have it in him to send Yolanda to prison.

Sienna understood it, really. Finn wasn't a cold-blooded monster capable of destroying his own family for the sake of justice.

Which meant she was going to have to do it herself.

"No need. I'm going back with Finn," Sienna lied smoothly.

Just as expected, Isaac went dead silent. When he finally spoke again, his voice was noticeably strained.

"Alright. Stay safe. Call me if you need anything."

"I will, Director Holloway. Thanks for looking out for me lately."

With that, she ended the call.

She set her suitcase upright and stretched her back.

Wheeling her bag outside, she realized Finn was still standing exactly where she had left him.

With his eyes red-rimmed and fixed on her, he walked right up and took the handle of the suitcase from her grip.

"I heard everything. Even though you didn't tell me beforehand, I'm perfectly fine with it."

Sienna yanked the suitcase back.

"Fine with what? I'm just using you as a pawn to trick Isaac."

Finn stepped closer.

"Then I'm willing to be your pawn, okay?"
