I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 167

Heat rushed to Sienna's face, and she quickly averted her gaze.

"I wasn't watching you."

"Weren't you?" Finn's voice was a low, seductive rumble. His eyes, hazy with alcohol and a dangerous intensity, tracked her every move as he leaned in closer.

She immediately threw up a hand to hold him back.

"I'm a doctor. I was simply keeping an eye on my patient's injury."

"Do doctors usually follow their patients home after hours?" He closed the gap between them, a heady mix of bourbon and his signature cedarwood cologne washing over her.

Sienna put on her most professional tone.

"I'm partially responsible for this injury, so it's my duty to make sure it's handled properly. Don't flatter yourself."

"Liar." Finn pushed himself off the couch and stepped right into her personal space. He swayed slightly on his feet, but his intense stare never left her face.

She scowled.

"You're drunk, Finn. Get out of my way. I'm going home."

He grumbled something incoherent, refusing to let go of her arm.

"No."

He took a heavy step forward, forcing her to stumble back until her spine hit the wall.

He planted his hands firmly on the wall on either side of her shoulders, trapping her in a suffocating cage of muscle and heat.

The intoxicating blend of alcohol and sharp cologne was clouding her judgment.

She wrenched her head to the side, refusing to meet his eyes.

"Move."

"I was out of my mind with jealousy tonight. Do you have any idea what went through my head when I heard Isaac talking to you? I couldn't stop wondering why everyone is so obsessed with you. Isaac wants you. Paxton wants you. The whole damn world is trying to steal you away from me, and I can't take it anymore."

Sienna shoved his chest hard.

"Are you insane?"

The push sent him staggering backward, his shoulder clipping the edge of the shoe rack, but he immediately bounced back, trapping her again. The crazed, bloodshot desperation in his eyes was terrifying.

But they were also the source of her deepest, most devastating trauma.

Mustering every ounce of strength she had left, she violently shoved him away and screamed,

"What is the point of saying all this now?"

Finn's face contorted in sheer agony. He looked like a man begging for his life.

"Please don't leave me. Just... please don't push me away."

Sienna took a deep, shuddering breath, forcing her voice back to a steady calm.

"The only reason I'm still standing here listening to this is because of what you did in Kanya. You risked your life to fly through a war zone to get me that medicine. I know I probably wouldn't have survived without you. I will always be grateful for that."

Finn's hands balled into tight fists.

"Grateful?" His voice was thick with despair. "Is that all there is?"

She stared straight into his shattered gaze.

"Yes. That's all. I'm not denying that you saved my life. I'll carry that debt to my grave. But gratitude does not equal forgiveness."
