I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 380

George instinctively stood up to match him.

For the first time in his life, he was thrilled about his massive frame. Back in his school days, his seat was perpetually planted in the very back row, and he absolutely hated being called a 'gentle giant.' But looking at his son-in-law... wait, looking at Jorrod now, he was only a couple of inches shorter.

After handing the phone over, Jorrod sat back down beside Sienna, gently squeezing her hand again.

"This is the preliminary draft. Please, read it over."

The older couple huddled around the phone, reading through it slowly and meticulously.

The content was extensive, but the legal jargon had been simplified to be incredibly easy to understand—almost as if it had been tailor-made for them. So, even though it was their first time reading something like this, they understood it perfectly. Just as Jorrod promised, every single clause heavily favored Sienna.

The only discrepancy between his words and the document was that she wouldn't just get the assets if he betrayed her.

Instead, if Sienna ever decided she wanted a divorce—for any reason, even if she simply grew bored or had an affair herself—the result was entirely identical.

He would leave with nothing.

Seeing this, the older couple furrowed their brows.

They wanted to protect their daughter, but this kind of...

"We aren't greedy people. The fact that you drafted this shows you're taking responsibility. But if the divorce is Sienna's fault, we aren't petty enough to try and steal your money."

Your money...

George quickly corrected himself. "No matter how much money is involved, we don't want what isn't ours. Whoever is at fault must take responsibility."

"Dad, you agreed?" Sienna's eyes widened in absolute shock.

George scowled.

Did he agree? Not explicitly, no.

But his words essentially confirmed his approval. Somehow, this kid had effortlessly sweet-talked him straight into a trap.

George pressed his lips together, turning to look at Lillian.

Lillian didn't say a word. Her eyes were warm, her demeanor graceful as ever. Looking at the two young adults with their hands tightly intertwined, she simply radiated soft, maternal warmth.

She looked back and gave George a meaningful glance.

George lowered his eyelashes and let out a heavy sigh. "Go back and amend the agreement. That specific clause I mentioned—delete it."

What was meant to be a cozy reunion for a family of three suddenly included an extra man.

That evening, when George was making the dumplings, he made an extra-large batch.

He even mixed several different fillings.

Sienna looked surprised. "Why did you make pork and sweet corn dumplings?"

It wasn't strange that she was shocked. Usually, their family just ate classic pork and cabbage dumplings for the holidays, occasionally switching the flavors every couple of years.

But sweet corn was an incredibly rare sight on their holiday dinner table.

George shot Jorrod a side-eye and remained completely silent.

Lillian smiled softly, teasing, "Someone here loves them."

With only four people at the table, Sienna immediately turned her gaze to Jorrod. "Mr. Vaughn, do you love them?"

Jorrod looked right at her, his eyes swimming with endless, intoxicating adoration.

"I do," he said.
