I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 378

The doorbell outside finally stopped ringing.

Instead, Sienna's phone started buzzing in her hand.

She frantically fumbled to switch it to silent.

Through it all, Jorrod stood tall and entirely unfazed. When he spoke, his voice was steady.

"This is a mess of my own making, and I have to eat the bitter consequences. It's completely natural for your parents to resent me, and I have no right to complain."

"But I don't want to hide anymore. I want to sincerely apologize to your parents. If your dad wants to hit me or curse me out, I'll take it."

"Sienna, let's just go public, okay?"

Jorrod's words were earnest, his tone unapologetically sincere.

Seeing him look so open and devoted made all of Sienna's rejections die in her throat.

She looked up, meeting his calm, unflinching dark eyes. There was something deeply grounding about his gaze, and as they locked eyes, her racing heart began to steady.

In her palm, her phone screen was still flashing.

Sienna took a deep breath, grabbed the man's hand, and twisted the door open.

-

As for spending the holidays at their daughter's place.

It was a mutual decision between the three of them.

Lillian figured the dumpling shop wouldn't have much business over the holidays anyway, so they might as well go to Stanton City to keep their daughter company and take care of her.

Except, when the older couple arrived, they were met with a closed door.

Their calls went completely unanswered.

Just as the two were growing suspicious and raised a hand to knock again.

The door suddenly opened.

George lowered his hand, a wide smile breaking across his face.

The door swung wider.

An entirely unexpected figure appeared in the doorway. The couple's eyes widened in sheer horror, frozen like statues. After what felt like an eternity, they slowly turned their heads to look at their daughter standing next to Jorrod Vaughn.

The two of them had their fingers tightly interlaced, completely abandoning any attempt to hide.

His demeanor was serious, his attitude respectful, and his tone utterly transparent.

George exchanged a look with his wife. Lillian nodded, and George finally spoke, telling them to sit down in the living room.

And thus, the grand reenactment commenced.

Sitting on the sofa, George looked far more awkward than he had during their first encounter.

The first time they met, Jorrod had played the part of the innocent victim flawlessly. Plus, George had been under the impression that Jorrod had ruthlessly caused factory workers to lose their jobs.

So back then, George threw caution to the wind, venting his anger and screaming his grievances.

This time was entirely different.

He now knew that the incident was merely a result of the man's amnesia-induced cognitive decline, and that the factory dispute was just a massive misunderstanding. More importantly, he had brutally assaulted the man without cause.

Worst of all.

This kid genuinely held grudges, and he absolutely would beat up an old man!

Miles Hammond's tragic fate was still vividly burned into his brain. George cleared his throat and stiffened his spine slightly. "Mr. Vaughn, our Sienna..."

Jorrod nodded politely, correcting him gently. "George, please, just call me Jorrod."
