I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 360

Sienna wanted to curse.

He might be wearing gloves, but that didn't mean she wasn't grossed out!

The man beside her was even more disgusted.

The bistro's lighting was designed for romantic ambiance, casting everything in dim, soft hues. The man's striking features were half-hidden in the shadows, but as Liam's hand reached over, anyone could see his brow furrow.

Jorrod narrowed his eyes, his dark pupils shooting a tangible chill at Liam's outstretched hand.

Then, his gaze dropped to the mussel in Sienna's bowl.

The atmosphere at the table had never been harmonious, but now it felt suffocatingly heavy. A dark, oppressive aura slowly seeped into the air.

Julian didn't understand what was happening, but Sienna knew exactly what it was.

This man was drowning in jealousy.

Julian cleared his throat. "Mr. Vaughn, is there a dish you're unhappy with?"

Jorrod ignored him. He looked up, his gaze locking onto Liam for a long moment. His tone was dripping with implication. "What exactly is the meaning of this, Team Lead Carter? Acting so attentive... are you trying to beg Vice Director Quinn to take you back?"

A single sentence instantly highlighted their respective ranks in the company, as if deliberately reminding them of their places.

But throwing the 'Team Lead' title in his face at a moment like this felt incredibly sarcastic.

Liam froze, clearly not expecting his small gesture to be caught by Jorrod, let alone called out in front of everyone.

He thought the CEO had just been looking down and picking at his shrimp, completely ignoring the conversation at the table. He hadn't expected the man to actually pay attention to him. But wasn't this incredibly invasive? What did it have to do with him?

"The company strictly prohibits office romances. It seems you're looking to resign, Liam."

So that was what this was about... Liam stayed silent.

How could he possibly resign?

He had always been the golden child. He had finally escaped his toxic family, gotten into a top-tier university, and landed a job at a massive corporation. There was no way he was going to throw away such a bright future.

Under the table, he texted George: [George, this guy is a complete loser.]

"I heard the designs submitted for the latest project were a total disaster, and your entire team is waiting on you to fix it?"

Above the table, Jorrod wasn't finished. "A moment ago, I actually misunderstood you. I thought Team Lead Carter was so deeply in love and desperate for reconciliation that his emotions were affecting his work."

"But looking at it now, a single reminder about office romances was enough to make you back down immediately. I wouldn't exactly call your feelings devoted."

"Team Lead Carter, I highly suggest you get your own life together first. If you can't even stand on your own two feet, stop trying to drag other people down with you."

"Oh, and stop dreaming about climbing the social ladder by using your boss."

Liam's face cycled between pale and sickly green. He opened his mouth a few times but couldn't force a single coherent word out.

He didn't understand what he had done to piss Jorrod off this badly! Why did the CEO have to relentlessly humiliate and reprimand him in front of everyone?

The most infuriating part was that, given Jorrod's status, all Liam could do was grit his teeth and choke out, "Understood, Mr. Vaughn."
