After dealing with the messages, Jorrod locked his phone and handed it back to Sienna.
Sienna stood by his side the entire time. By the time the doctor completely finished the treatment, an hour had passed.
Since his shirt was damp from his half-dry body, the doctor wrapped several thick layers of dry gauze around his torso for protection. Over the bandages, Jorrod only wore his suit jacket.
"Take off the gauze as soon as you get back. Change your clothes into something loose and breathable."
"You need to come in constantly to check the wound over the next few days. Also, right before bed, make sure to inspect the color. See if it's dry and if there's any fluid leaking."
As the doctor spoke, he pulled out his phone. "Let's exchange WeChat. If you can't assess it yourself, take a picture and send it to me."
Hearing this, Sienna immediately handed Jorrod his phone.
"Jorrod, your phone," she prompted.
But he completely ignored her, keeping his head down as he stubbornly focused on buttoning his jacket. Whether he was turning a blind eye or genuinely didn't want to engage, she couldn't tell.
The doctor stood there awkwardly holding his phone, rushing them slightly.
"I'll add you first." Sienna had no choice but to pull out her own phone, scan his QR code, and successfully add the doctor before forwarding his contact card to Jorrod.
Before leaving, Sienna asked the doctor about Jorrod's condition one last time.
The doctor warned her repeatedly, "It's not life-threatening, but the pain is going to be excruciating. Moreover, what happened today can never happen again. The healing stage is highly susceptible to infection."
Inside the car, Sienna told him to get into the backseat.
She leaned over to buckle his seatbelt. "I'll take you home."
Sitting in the back, Jorrod outright refused. "I'm not going back."
"?" Sienna turned her head. The man was staring out the window, giving her a clear view of his sharp jawline.
"Susan and the others caught a cold. It's contagious."
"Oh, that's fine. I'll just drop you at the front door and leave. I won't catch it."
"I don't want to catch it either."
"..." Sienna thought for a moment. "Then I'll take you to a hotel and call Jeremy over?"
Her new suggestion was instantly shot down again. "It's too late. I don't want him working overtime."
This won't work, that won't work. Sienna frowned. "Then what do you want to do? Go back and stay in the hospital?"
"I hate sleeping in hospitals."
After getting rejected three times, Sienna let out a heavy sigh.
His voice was incredibly soothing, but she was shivering so violently that her desperate attempts to grab him just looked like erratic thrashing in the water.
Once on shore, she quickly snapped a few photos and immediately posted online, claiming Sienna had pushed her into the pool. The lighting was poor, they already had bad blood, and with so many witnesses seeing Sienna standing right there, it would be impossible for her to talk her way out of it.
She didn't want to ruin Sienna's life; she just wanted her fired to satisfy her own ego.
But right in the middle of her plotting, Joey overheard the crew gossiping. The person who had jumped in to save her wasn't the safety team—it was Jorrod.
Joey's jaw practically hit the floor. She had actually crossed paths with Jorrod once before.
It was her first day on set. While Sienna was adjusting her necklace, Joey had felt her eyes forcibly drawn in a certain direction.
That was when she saw the tall, imposing silhouette standing a distance away. His eyes were locked directly on her, and when their gazes met, it felt like an intense, assessing stare.
When she looked back moments later, he was gone.
Joey had assumed he was just some fan of hers. It was only after asking around that she discovered he was the almighty Jorrod Vaughn.
She didn't know what Jorrod's repeated appearances meant.
But the one thing she was absolutely certain of was that he had a crush on her.
Joey prided herself on not being desperate for romance. But in this scenario, her immediate instinct was to log into her burner account, pretend to be a crew member, and leak the story that Jorrod had leaped into the freezing water exclusively to save her. She would then use her main account to politely ask people to delete it, accidentally "liking" the rumors so the whole world would know.
