Joey didn't hold back. The second she was off-camera, she furiously typed a message.
[I am so furious! It's one of your Stellaris Corp employees.]
[She thinks she can walk all over me.]
Madeline Vaughn received the texts while getting a facial at an exclusive spa.
She was rather fond of the young actress. Joey was a master flatterer, and they had grown close after working on a show together.
Plus, when Joey first debuted, her striking resemblance to Madeline had earned her the nickname 'Little Maddie'.
Madeline typed a lazy reply.
[What happened?]
She knew Joey was currently shooting a campaign for her nephew's company.
Joey, of course, was hyper-aware of Madeline's connections.
Madeline was her ultimate trump card. Everyone knew Jorrod Vaughn was a ruthless corporate predator, but at the end of the day, he was still Madeline's nephew.
Family hierarchy dictated everything. Joey understood the power dynamics perfectly.
That foolish designer had messed with the wrong actress.
Joey: [An employee at the shoot. We have a history, and she's using this to settle a personal vendetta.]
Joey: [She intentionally dug her nails into my neck while putting on a necklace. My shoulders are still throbbing.]
'Dug her nails in.'
It was an alarming accusation.
Feeling protective over her protégé, Madeline felt a surge of indignation.
Stellaris Corp belonged to her nephew. Though she and Jorrod weren't particularly close—and he was notoriously difficult to deal with—she figured he wouldn't deny a simple personnel request from his aunt.
Madeline: [What's her name?]
Joey fired back instantly: [Sienna Quinn. She's supposed to be supervising the shoot, but she's completely out of control.]
Joey: [Can you get her fired?]
He slammed his car door shut and sprinted to the front porch.
Suddenly, he heard booming, hearty laughter echoing from the living room.
Nate immediately sensed something was terribly wrong.
Jaw clenched, he pushed the front door open and stepped inside.
On the sofa sat his father—a man who despised television—doubled over with laughter at a syndicated sitcom.
Spotting his son, Alistair waved casually, inviting him to sit and watch.
Rage spiked through Nathaniel's veins. He gritted his teeth. "I thought you were dying?"
"I am. Dying of laughter." Alistair didn't look remotely guilty. "Had to share the joy with you."
"Unbelievable," Nate sneered. Without another word, he stormed upstairs.
Watching his furious son disappear, Alistair grabbed the remote and clicked off the TV. His expression instantly reverted to the austere, calculating mask of an academic titan.
