Her Hidden Hero from the Unwritten Page novel Chapter 13

In an instant, the way everyone looked at Seth grew heated. He was insanely good-looking and came from a loaded family. Did it even matter if his grades were bad?

Not anymore.

So was his pursuit really a nuisance?

Absolutely not. Most girls couldn't beg for that kind of attention.

The way the crowd looked at Whitney, however, drastically changed.

Winona arched an eyebrow. "Oh, really? Have you paid him back yet?"

"I'm paying him back next week," Whitney muttered, biting her lip.

Winona patted Seth on the shoulder. "Make sure you collect that debt."

Seth felt incredibly uncomfortable. "I don't need her to pay—"

The rest of his sentence died in his throat as Winona shot him a lethal glare. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he snapped his mouth shut.

Winona then turned to Isabella, whose face had gone an ugly shade of green. A cold smirk pulled at Winona's lips, her eyes devoid of any warmth. "Next time you speak to your daughter's creditor, I suggest you drop the attitude."

Wendy couldn't hold back anymore. "Whitney, didn't you tell me your mom bought this for you?"

The moment she spoke, it was as if Whitney found a target to vent all her frustration on. "Does this have anything to do with you? Keep your mouth shut!"

Being yelled at in front of everyone made Wendy blush fiercely in humiliation. And to think she had been practically kissing the ground Whitney walked on all this time. She felt a deep, burning resentment in her chest, but she couldn't utter a single word.

The ridiculous spectacle had finally come to an end.

Caleb looked at Winona with starry eyes. "Winona, you're an absolute badass."

Winona arched a brow at him. "Pretty cool, huh?"

"So cool." Caleb nodded frantically.

Seth shoved him lightly by the shoulder. "Go back and eat."

Seth spoke from the bottom of his heart. "You really have zero shame."

Winona crossed her arms, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. "Herbert might be out of his mind and have terrible taste in people, but at least he's hot and filthy rich. What exactly are you getting out of Whitney? Her compulsive lying? Her two-faced personality? Or her massive ego?"

Seth fell silent for a long time.

He was only sixteen right now. Even though he looked intimidating and rebellious, he was vastly different from the quiet, brooding, invisible man he would become in his twenties.

"I know," Seth said quietly. "I knew exactly what she was from the very beginning."

He had grown up in a wealthy family. From a young age, he had seen and interacted with all kinds of people. Whitney hid the greed in her eyes well, but he could still see right through it.

"Then why..." Winona's eyes widened in disbelief, the tassel earrings swaying alongside her obvious confusion.

She had actually thought her foolish brother was just blind to Whitney's true colors. She assumed he was being played and genuinely believed the girl was a good person.

"She treats me well, and she asks about my day," Seth said, his tone entirely dismissive. "That's enough for me."
