Her Hidden Hero from the Unwritten Page novel Chapter 11

"Which one is Whitney Harper?" Winona asked aloud, though her gaze was already slowly landing on the girl wearing a high-end designer dress.

For the first time, she took a serious look at the sixteen-year-old Whitney.

In her past life, she had only known that Seth had a crush on some girl. She hadn't paid it much mind back then.

It wasn't until the Lennox family went bankrupt and she hit rock bottom that she finally saw Whitney in person.

At the time, Whitney had just celebrated her twenty-first birthday. Living on a tight budget, she had begged Seth to buy her a designer bag just so she could show it off at school.

And after that, Seth...

Sixteen-year-old Whitney looked remarkably innocent. Though she seemed a bit nervous, she gave off the perfect vibe of the gorgeous, straight-A valedictorian from a teen movie. She really was the type boys obsessed over.

"Me." Whitney gently bit her lower lip.

"Then let me ask you—is Seth's pursuit a nuisance to you?" Winona's expression was ice-cold.

Whitney lowered her head, refusing to speak.

Winona let out a soft scoff. "You can't even answer a simple question like that?"

"I..." Whitney had accepted plenty of gifts from Seth, so naturally, she wasn't about to admit to his face that his attention was a bother. But if she publicly declared it wasn't a bother, it would completely contradict what she had been telling everyone else.

Whitney sniffled. "I'm sorry, I don't want to answer that."

Her eyes welled with tears, looking as if she might break down crying at any second. With that exact teary gaze, she looked over at Seth.

After dealing with him for the past year, she knew exactly how weak he was for this trick. She fully expected him to step up and defend her.

Instead, Seth gave her a brief glance before shifting his eyes back to Winona.

Two seconds later, he turned his head away, doing absolutely nothing.

Whitney's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

Fortunately, her parents had just finished speaking with the homeroom teacher. As Robert and Isabella stepped out of the private room, the three adults froze at the scene.

"I didn't..."

Suddenly, someone grabbed Seth by the wrist.

He frowned in shock, looking down at Winona.

Winona gave him a faint smile, then turned her piercing gaze back to Whitney. When she spoke, her voice was perfectly pitched—casual, but loud enough for everyone in the hallway to hear.

"Did you buy that dress you're wearing yourself?"

Whitney nodded, tears still in her eyes. "Yes."

"When did you buy it?"

"Why... why are you asking me this?"

"Can't I be curious?" Winona tilted her head. "Are you telling me you can't even answer a question this simple?"
