He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 890

"Do you know I overdosed on my anxiety medication? Because the normal dosage wasn't enough to numb what I felt around you. And if I keep taking more, it's going to kill me," Helena said, her face completely void of emotion. "Is that what you want? Do you just want me dead, Sebastian?"

She laid it all bare, leaving the crushing weight of the truth squarely on his shoulders.

Sebastian didn't speak. He just stood there, paralyzed.

After what felt like an eternity, he finally found his voice.

"I'm sorry, Helena. I didn't know."

"Well, now you do," Helena said with a tight nod.

She turned and walked out of the office.

This time, Sebastian didn't try to stop her.

He stood in silence, watching the elevator doors slide shut, swallowing her whole.

Then, he slammed his fist into the wall, entirely uncaring as the skin on his knuckles split and began to bleed.

It took a long time for the suffocating grip of his own guilt to loosen enough for him to breathe.

He realized, with bitter clarity, that he had built his own prison.

Meanwhile, Helena drove straight back to her apartment.

When she emerged from the parking garage, the reporters noticed her pale, exhausted expression.

None of them dared to approach her.

A few minutes later, Sebastian drove out.

But instead of heading to her apartment, his car turned toward the Hayes Estate.

The paparazzi exchanged bewildered looks. They couldn't figure out why the two had been joined at the hip just days ago, only to separate so coldly now.

A strange, tense atmosphere settled over Riverton.

As soon as Helena walked into her apartment, her phone rang.

It was Julian.

"Did you go to the detention center?" he asked quietly.

"Yeah," Helena replied, her voice thick with an exhaustion that made even breathing feel like too much effort.

Julian picked up on it immediately. "Was Sebastian there? Did he give you a hard time?"

"No. We just talked about Skye. He won't do anything to disrupt her life," she answered quickly. "She's staying with the Campbells."
