It really was too hot for her.
During her years in Coralia, the worst habit Helena had picked up was drinking everything ice-cold.
She completely refused to touch hot water.
Sebastian frowned. "You're sick. You can't drink ice water."
She simply fell silent.
It was as if she knew exactly how to torture him the moment he refused to compromise.
She moved to stand up and get it herself.
"I'll get it!" he gritted out, his jaw clenched.
He forced her back down onto the sofa.
She didn't bother struggling; getting what she wanted was all that mattered.
When he returned, he handed her a glass of actual ice water.
She took one sip and frowned again. "It's too cold."
This time, a dark, humorless laugh escaped his lips.
She ignored his reaction entirely. True to her word, she refused to drink it, casually setting the glass aside.
Then, her eyes widened in pure shock as she stared at him.
He lunged forward, pinning her against the cushions, and captured her lips in a punishing kiss.
He brutally silenced every single one of her complaints.
She was so stunned she didn't even fight back.
As their bodies pressed together, he could feel that her skin was still radiating heat.
But compared to the terrifying temperature from earlier, it had dropped significantly.
He acted as if he couldn't care less about catching whatever she had.
He kissed her with intense, consuming focus.
Over and over, deep and unrelenting.
He didn't give her a single second to voice a protest.
Even when she gasped for air, he merely pulled back just enough to let her breathe before diving right back in, taking her mouth completely.
He didn't stop until her lips were swollen and bruised red.
Only then did he finally pull away.
She panted heavily, glaring at him with pure fury.
Yet, with the flush of anger in her cheeks, she looked vastly better than the pale, ghostly figure from before.
Carter was completely unfazed by the shift.
"Mr. Hayes, The Scandal Headline about you abruptly stopping your car just hit the news," Carter reported, handing him the tablet.
This was Coralia; the local press obviously wasn't going to give Carter any advance warning.
So Carter had found out at the same time as the rest of the public.
Although the paparazzi photos didn't show Helena's face clearly, Sebastian's profile was unmistakable.
Combined with eyewitness accounts, everyone easily deduced the woman was her.
Especially since they had been spotted together in the city recently.
"Leave it," Sebastian said, barely glancing at the screen.
Carter nodded, deciding not to press the issue.
His boss's stance was crystal clear.
Allowing this to circulate was a blatant slap in Janetta's face. At this rate, a divorce was imminent.
And if The Campbell Family cared about the rumor, they would clean it up themselves.
Sebastian certainly wasn't going to lift a finger to stop it.
The two men shifted focus, quietly discussing business matters.
