He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 776

It seemed that after all these years, Sebastian hadn't changed a bit.

He had used the exact same nickname back then; Helena remembered seeing it.

Once, she had been curious about how she was saved in his contacts.

While he was in the shower, she had tried to check his phone.

Pathetically enough, she discovered she couldn't even bypass his lock screen.

She tried two passcodes: Sebastian's birthday, and then Janetta's birthday.

Neither worked.

So, she resorted to calling him from her own phone while staring at his screen.

That was when she realized she didn't even warrant a contact name. She was just a string of unsaved digits.

Indistinguishable from a spam caller.

That was the day she finally understood.

Understood why he never answered whenever she tried to call him.

He probably just assumed it was a telemarketer.

She was forced to go through Carter Miles every time she desperately needed to reach her own husband.

Carter was always polite, but it was a cold, distant courtesy.

Strictly professional, nothing more.

Eventually, she just stopped calling altogether.

By the time Helena snapped out of her bitter memory, she realized Sebastian still hadn't answered the phone.

"Aren't you going to answer your wife's call?" she asked smoothly.

"Do you want me to?" he fired back.

Helena smiled, her voice dripping with sheer mockery. "It's annoying."

Sebastian let out a low hum and actually answered the call right in front of her.

The moment the line connected, Janetta's voice drifted out from the speaker.

Whether Sebastian was doing it on purpose or not, Helena couldn't tell.

Regardless of whether Janetta was Kyle's biological mother or not, to the rest of the world, they were mother and son.

He had maintained that lie solely to protect Kyle's fragile mental state.

Even Grace Dale wasn't fully aware of the truth.

Because Kyle was an incredibly sensitive child.

If the boy found out the truth, Sebastian feared the emotional fallout would completely break him.

Much like Skye, Kyle suffered from severe heart and asthma conditions; any massive shock could be fatal.

That was the only reason Sebastian had chosen to keep the secret buried.

"Who told you to do that?" Sebastian's voice dropped dangerously, radiating pure interrogation.

"Kyle called me. He said he really missed his daddy, so I told the nanny to bring him to Coralia," Janetta replied, playing the victim perfectly.

"What time does his flight land?" he demanded icily.

"They should be taking off right now. It's a two-hour flight, plus baggage claim... so maybe two and a half hours?" she explained.

She paused for a second before adding softly, "Seb, let's go pick him up together, okay?"
