He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 773

Helena went dead silent, her grip tightening on the phone.

"This means Sebastian is actively questioning your identity. He suspected you once before and verified The DNA Evidence, which I managed to alter. But if he pushes for another round, I can't guarantee I'll be able to intercept it again," Julian warned her bluntly.

"Helena, you know Sebastian better than anyone. He's relentless. If he's digging into this a second time, he'll come fully prepared. The only reason I caught it before was because Beau Sterling tested the corpse's DNA from back then, which triggered a security alert I had set up. The core of my defense relies on the police department's archived DNA records. But if Beau managed to secure a physical sample off-site during that first test, I have zero control over what happens next."

Julian laid out the stark reality.

It meant Helena's true identity was on the verge of being completely exposed.

Helena understood perfectly, remaining dead quiet.

After Julian finished speaking, he didn't press her further.

Skye was staring up at Helena with wide, curious eyes.

"What did Julian say?" Skye asked.

"Nothing much, we were just catching up," Helena smiled.

When she faced Skye, Helena could seamlessly mask her emotions.

She refused to let any of her own darkness taint the little girl.

She didn't want Skye to worry for even a second.

On the other end of the line, Julian had clearly heard Skye's voice.

"Put Skye on the phone," Julian requested calmly.

"Okay," Helena agreed smoothly.

She passed the phone back to Skye.

Unlike Helena's suffocating tension, Skye easily breathed life back into the room.

She held the phone, chattering excitedly with Julian.

Helena simply watched, unsure if the sigh escaping her lips was out of relief or something else entirely.

Throughout the entire exchange, she didn't say another word.

It wasn't until she felt Sebastian's heavy gaze land on her that she snapped back to reality.

She quickly gathered her composure.

The standoff between her and Sebastian was left hanging in the air, unresolved.

All because Skye was right there in the room.

They weren't cooked in the typical Coralia style, but rather glazed in a savory, aromatic sauce.

"Did you wash your hands?" Sebastian asked, looking down at her with a smile.

Skye pouted, then obediently trotted over to the sink.

She scrubbed her hands thoroughly before holding them up for Sebastian's inspection. "Is this good enough?"

"Perfect!" Sebastian chuckled.

A moment later, Skye was sitting at the table, happily munching on a rib with a look of pure bliss.

Sebastian finished stir-frying the greens, occasionally pausing to wipe the sauce from Skye's mouth with a wet napkin.

Helena simply sat and watched.

The illusion that they were a perfect family of three was becoming increasingly vivid.

This exact scene was everything Helena used to dream about.

But now, it was the absolute last thing she ever wanted to face.

Yet Sebastian was forcing her hand, step by step, driving her into a corner with nowhere left to run.
