Then she smiled, a faint, dangerous curve of her lips. "Otherwise, I really don't know what I might do. So don't push me."
Sebastian wasn't the only one capable of issuing threats. She could play that game too. The only difference was that he thought he held all the winning cards, while she had absolutely nothing left to lose.
What did she actually have left? She couldn't take Wynn Wallace away, but she was equally certain Sebastian wouldn't dare lay a hand on her brother. Not when the baby hadn't been born yet, and those company shares were still not in his name. Because of that, Helena hadn't entirely lost the war.
As she finished her sentence, she watched Sebastian slowly turn around. His gaze was terrifyingly dark as he stalked back toward her. She knew she had won this round.
Yet, there was no satisfaction in it. She knew this kind of victory was only dragging the two of them deeper into a bottomless abyss. There was no turning back now.
"Are you going to kill me?" Helena tilted her chin up, meeting his fury with utter defiance.
Sebastian scoffed coldly. "I'm adding this to your tab, Helena."
"Be my guest," she replied flatly.
The moment the words left her mouth, Sebastian seized her hand again, this time with a brutal, wrenching force. A sickening pop echoed in the air. A blinding spike of pain shot through her arm, making her chest heave with the agony of it.
But Helena simply let him drag her, refusing to flinch. She would rather die than beg this man for mercy.
Ignoring her completely, Sebastian hauled her toward the hospital exit.
The press had already swarmed the entrance. Wherever Janetta went, the media followed like a pack of wolves. It was inevitable.
But when the reporters saw Sebastian storming out hand-in-hand with Helena, a collective shock rippled through the crowd. They exchanged bewildered glances. Soon enough, one of them snapped out of it, shoving a microphone in his direction.
"Mr. Hayes, who is the woman with you?"
"Mr. Hayes, if you have a wife, does that make Ms. Ramirez the other woman?" someone finally shouted, cutting straight to the chase.
Sebastian locked his predatory gaze onto the brave reporter. "Ms. Ramirez is the brand ambassador for Hayes Properties and an incredibly valued partner. I strongly advise everyone here to watch what they say. Do not stir up baseless drama."
It was a blatant threat, wrapped in a corporate warning. The reporters instantly clamped their mouths shut.
Without another word, Sebastian yanked Helena forward and pushed through the crowd.
Caught off guard, she stumbled. Her dislocated wrist was screaming in agony, and keeping up with his long strides was nearly impossible.
Yet she remained completely silent the entire way, letting him shove her roughly into the backseat of his waiting SUV.
