He was still wearing a black suit, looking entirely unapproachable.
Nelson was like a red plum blossom buried under winter snow. Outsiders only saw the freezing white expanse, but all Juniper saw was a blinding, intoxicating crimson.
She hated Nelson. She hated how he always did whatever he wanted, forcing her into absolutely humiliating situations.
Yet, in this quiet space, under this fiery kiss, the emotional quicksand in her heart crept up from her feet, threatening to pull her entirely under.
The elevator dinged. She couldn't hear it. Her hearing aids were still clutched in her hand, and her mind was reeling.
Nelson's lips dragged along her jawline as he glanced toward the elevator, locking eyes with Lydia.
Lydia caught the fleeting trace of restraint he had just shown, and the pure madness lurking beneath it.
Her heart trembled as she saw his legs trapping Juniper's like climbing vines.
It was as if he desperately needed to feed off Juniper to survive.
Nelson...
So this was what Nelson looked like when he lost control.
Lydia's eyes stung, turning red at the sight, yet her body went shamefully weak.
She desperately wished she was the one trapped in his arms!
The one being kissed so fiercely!
Her fingertips turned white as she quietly backed away.
Nelson pulled back. His gaze still lingered on Juniper's lips, her face.
Juniper was like this most of the time—too dizzy with anger to know what to do.
This time, she even forgot to slap him. She just gritted her teeth, looking like she wanted to rip him apart.
Nelson took a step back. "You delivered yourself right to my door. What am I supposed to do? Going to call the cops again?"
She stood against the wall, her fists clenched. "Get out of my sight."
This was what happened when someone was too well-behaved; they just got bullied. Even her insults lacked bite.
Crying would feel too weak. Juniper hated how easily she allowed herself to be manipulated.
She swallowed hard.
Nelson, however, asked, "Are you feeling better?"
How could he ask that so casually after doing something like that?
Juniper thought he was disgusting.
