He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 25

Back in the private room, Julian and Miles were waiting for Nelson to return. The coffee table had been righted, and fresh drinks had been served.

Frowning, Julian stood up to look for him, only to see several people rushing past the doorway.

"Something's happening! Someone's getting beaten to death out there!"

"Who would dare start a fight here? Do they have a death wish?"

"I don't know, but the cops are already on their way."

Julian immediately hurried toward the commotion. When he arrived, he saw Corbin bleeding on the floor, while Nelson stood over him, gripping a massive shard from a shattered vase, raising his arm to drive it into Corbin's neck.

Julian's heart skipped a beat. He lunged forward, grabbing Nelson's arm. "Are you out of your mind?!"

Nelson's knuckles were coated in blood.

Corbin's face was a bruised, unrecognizable mess, and he was spitting blood. Shards of porcelain were scattered everywhere, making it obvious the vase had been smashed directly over his head.

Julian took a sharp breath. "If you keep hitting him, you'll kill him!"

Corbin writhed in agony on the floor. The man who had been chatting with him earlier stood off to the side, his legs giving out. Pale as a ghost, he practically dropped to his knees. "Mr. Saint, Corbin didn't see you in the shadows when he tossed his cigarette butt over there! I apologize on his behalf. You've already taught him a lesson—please, let it go before this gets completely out of hand. His mother is quite close with Mrs. Saint!"

It was true. The only reason a useless degenerate like Corbin still enjoyed a comfortable life in the Xavier family was because his mother was close friends with Yvonne Saint.

The Xavier family was a chaotic mess of half-siblings and mistresses, but despite his total lack of ambition, Corbin still held some status.

And a lot of that came down to his peripheral ties to the Saint family.

Nelson abruptly released Corbin's collar.
