Beatrice flared up. "We're doing this for your own good! If you're sick, you need treatment! Running away won't fix anything, I—"
She cut herself off, suddenly remembering there was an outsider standing right next to them. "The point is, we came all this way specifically for you."
Juniper simply turned and followed Quinn, refusing to engage in the argument.
Beatrice hurried after her, her voice laced with anxiety. "I don't even know where your father went. He doesn't know the city, he can't use a ride-hailing app, and he's completely useless."
Beatrice had married Walter at a very young age. He was a violently toxic man, the kind who made life an absolute nightmare for anyone around him, but Beatrice had spent her entire life chained to him. She let out a long sigh. "We need to go find your dad. He's not even wearing a shirt; he must be freezing."
Juniper ignored the complaints, pulling open the car door and motioning for Beatrice to get in.
Beatrice couldn't name a single luxury car brand, but one look at the sleek exterior told her this vehicle cost a fortune.
She climbed into the back seat nervously, barely daring to put her feet on the floor mats out of fear of dirtying them.
But before she could say another word, Juniper slammed the door shut. "Go back first, Mom."
Seeing her firmly plant her feet on the pavement, Quinn knew she wasn't getting in. He switched to a compromising tone. "Ms. Lane, I'll have someone else arrange a ride for you."
Juniper turned away, pulling out her phone to text Zara.
Zara had witnessed the entire disaster unfold, but as the bride, it wasn't her place to intervene on Juniper's behalf.
Plus, Arthur Sterling's authority over the event was absolute.
Now that Zara finally had a quiet moment, she immediately messaged Juniper to check on her.
Juniper replied, asking if she could borrow a hat and a mask.
She needed to cover her face before walking out to hail a cab.
Zara thought for a second before replying: *I'll send one of my people to escort you out. Wait by the rose wall in the corner of the courtyard.*
Relieved, Juniper quickly texted back: *Okay.*
Meanwhile, Nelson carried Josie over to a massive marble pillar as she tugged on his sleeve.
